You must have missed it, Nixon didn't go quietly, not at all Nixon was no quitter. Sen. Goldwater, Rep. John Rhodes, and Sen. Hugh Scott went to the White House and told Nixon if he didn't resign immediately he's be impeached then removed from office. Because Rhodes, Goldwater & Scott already had the votes, it took nearly 26 months from start to finish, but, like I said - Nixon was no quitter.
