https://www.news4jax.com/money/these-companies-promise-to-pass-on-some-of-their-tax-cut-to-workers AT&T The telecom firm said it will give 200,000 employees a $1,000 bonus. In a statement, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson hailed "Congress, working with the President" for taking a "monumental step" that will "create good-paying jobs." (AT&T is seeking to acquire Time Warner, CNN's parent company. The Department of Justice sued to block the deal in November.) Boeing The aerospace giant said it will spend $300 million on workers. The funds will be split evenly among worker training, upgrading facilities and a program that matches employees' charitable contributions. Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg "praised" the tax bill as "a critical driver of business, economic growth and innovation for the United States and for Boeing," according to a press release. Comcast The telecom firm, which owns NBCUniversal, said it will give out "special" $1,000 holiday bonuses to more than 100,000 "frontline and non-executive" employees. Comcast also expects to "spend well in excess of $50 billion over the next five years investing in infrastructure to radically improve and extend our broadband plant and capacity, and our television, film and theme park offerings," according to a press release issued Wednesday night. "With these investments, we expect to add thousands of new direct and indirect jobs." Two company spokesmen confirmed the announcement was tied to tax reform. Fifth Third Bancorp The financial services company says it will raise its company-wide hourly minimum wage to $15, signaling a pay raise for about 75% of its employees. The bank also pledged to give out $1,000 bonuses to about 13,500 of its workers. CEO Greg Carmichael attributed the move to the tax legislation. "The tax cut allowed the bank the opportunity to reevaluate its compensation structure and share some of those benefits with its talented and dedicated workforce," the company said in a statement. Wells Fargo The mega bank said it will hike its minimum hourly pay rate to $15. That will mark a $1.50 increase over the company's current minimum of $13.50 per hour. Wells Fargo said the new minimum will become effective in March 2018. The bank also said it will increase its charitable giving by about 40% to $400 million. |

Bull shyte, there's only two things that drive up wages, scarce labor or unions, neither of which are readily a factor right now, across the economy as a whole. |

I present the facts, you are free to ignore them. All hail big corporations that will soon be loaded with cash! Hopefully the democrats won't ruin the good times, they owe a lot of money in unfunded pensions. There's a big difference between the GOP and the Progs, the Progs believe welfare is the best stimulus while the GOP believes in a business friendly admisntration. If those businesses had a history of being pro-employee (notice I did not say pro-union) there PA, I wouldn't mind them being flush with money as a result of any action of Trump's economy. Yet I find myself unfulfilled in the alleged generosity of these companies in actually coming to fruition...money talks...and well bs...you get the drift. |

It is not the goal of major corporations to fulfill you fantasies. It is their cash, they earned it, they should do with it whatever is in the best interest of the owners, the stockholders. You do understand how capitalism works? What can they do with that extra cash? Pay dividends? That helps senior citizens and pension funds. Reinvest? That helps them grow? Put it in the bank? Banks then lend it to others in need of capital. When you give it to government nothing good comes of it. Think back to the days when you were a Republican, maybe the light bulb will glow once again. |

I'm still a Republican but I wa unaware that i had to be greedy in order to be a Republican. As for who earned it isn't that the guys in the trenches who earned that money for them? As for giving to the government...corporations don't seem to mind government contracts apparently..just ask Colt Firearms, General Electric Boat Division, Lockheed Boeing, etc. Edited by Tsalagi, Dec 22 2017, 10:38 AM.

I just got a market alert that Apple will likely to use their overseas cash that will be repatriated to buy back stock and pay dividends. The company that bought my company (and gave me a lot of private stock) will be using the tax savings to pay dividends. I fell a little guilty for celebrating the new tax bill, but what the heck. |

Keeping more than 50% of what you earn is not greed and no, you are not a republican. As for government contracts they provide a service for a price, that's business, no different than dealing with a private company, they just have to factor in bribes and kickbacks into the price. Why is this so confusing, the people that produce a product, eek out a profit, deserve to keep the majority of those profits. The government wants 50% of the take while doing nothing. That is the real greed. |

I never mentioned not being able to keep what you earn...but don't you think more consideration should be forthcoming to those that actually bring in that money or do you think it's just those that provide the initial capital, and I fail to see how such a belief system doesn't make me a Republican...and yes..for 30 years that's what my GOP card says, the men I've helped put into office make me a Republican. So now we discerned that I don't want the Government to take half your earnings, can we move onto the fact that you're apparently ok with government largesse derived from the very taxes you don't want to pay. |

The beauty of the free market is workers are free to negotiate and sell their skills to the highest bidder. You are your own product, your own salesperson and your own CEO. Manage your capital wisely and you will succeed. The only snag comes when workers have little to no tangible skills to sell. Who's fault is that? A company with an old product line will fail. An employee with old skills will fail. Following so far? If you were against the government taking 50% of the profits then you must support the Trump tax overhaul. The federal, state and local tax burden was very close to and in many high tax states in excess of 50%. Before the Trump tax fix we were one of the hostile place in the free world to do business! WTF? Who, besides a closet Marxist would support such policies? |
