The question that needs to be asked is why so many elected Republicans keep fleeing from the embrace of the Trump administration? I guess a lot of the elected Republicans on Capitol Hill have just had too much WINNING!: Rep. Darrell Issa To Retire, Adding To Record GOP Exodus From Congress https://n.pr/2FkuKpv "Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., announced he will not seek re-election Wednesday, adding to a record number of House Republicans heading for the exits ahead of the 2018 midterms — perhaps seeing the writing on the wall of a possible wave election for Democrats. There are now 31 Republicans who will not seek re-election in November: 19 who are retiring outright and another 12 who are running for higher office. And that list is is expected to grow in the coming weeks. The last time a party had nearly that many members retire during a midterm year was in 1994, when 28 Democrats left and the GOP subsequently took back control of Congress in the Republican Revolution. Now, it's Republicans who find themselves in the opposite and unenviable position. Just one year into his term, President Trump has record low approval ratings, congressional Republicans have had few legislative achievements save for the tax overhaul they passed last month, and Democrats seem more fired up than ever to issue a rebuke to the GOP at the ballot box this year." And don't forget Issa's been an enemy of Progressives since forever, now he's leaving.... that spells trouble for the Alt-Right! |

There are presently 31 Republicans bailing on Trump for the 2018 midterms. Then there are those who are going to be defeated who have not yet bailed. Doesn't look good at this point in time. |

Lawmakers condemn Trump's 'sh#thole' remark; http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/11/politics/congress-reaction-trump-s**thole-countries/index.html "The (President's) comments are unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation's values," Rep. Mia Love, whose parents came to the US from Haiti, said in a statement. "This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation. Love, a Utah Republican, demanded an apology from the President. Sen. Tim Scott, the only Republican African-American senator, said the President's comments are "disappointing." Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, also called the reported comments "disappointing." Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich tweeted following the news of the remark, "America was built on the backs of immigrants from around the globe. We must honor that history, not reject it. It starts with respectful rhetoric and signing bipartisan DACA legislation." Real Americans Are Standing Up To Trump!

If they run they must stand by President Trump and defend his actions before a nation that is a lot more than his miserable 30% that will never call this President out for his racism and other actions that are diminishing this nation inside and before the world. The President can isolate himself to sycophants and pro-Trump rallies but a Congressman or Senator running for office must face all of America and not just those few they can bury themselves and hide in. |

Looks like Wisconsin voters are fleeing from both Trump and the Alt-Right: Scott Walker calls Dem victory in GOP-leaning Wisconsin Senate seat 'a wake up call' http://politi.co/2reFjaD "A Democrat’s victory in a special election to fill a vacant seat in the Wisconsin state Legislature is “a wake up call for Republicans in Wisconsin,” Gov. Scott Walker wrote on Twitter on Tuesday night. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Patty Schachtner, a Democrat, was victorious in Tuesday’s special election for Wisconsin’s 10th Senate District, a Republican-learning district in the northwest part of the state along the Minnesota border. The seat had previously been filled by Sheila Harsdorf, who resigned last November after 17 years in office to join Walker’s administration as Wisconsin’s secretary of agriculture." Democrats score special election upset in Wisconsin GOP stronghold https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/patty-schactner-wins_us "Democrat Patty Schachtner won a special election for a state Senate seat in Wisconsin on Tuesday, scoring a huge upset victory for her party in a district that President Donald Trump handily captured just over a year ago. It was the latest in a string of election victories for Democrats since Trump took office, and a sign of hope for the party that the energy from the base and frustration with the president could lead to more wins in November. With every precinct counted, The Washington Post reported that Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County, won by 9 percentage points." Wisconsin Upset Raises Hopes for Democrats in 2018 Races https://nyti.ms/2EPrrp2 "A Wisconsin Democrat won a State Senate seat on Tuesday night that had been held by a Republican for 17 years, setting off a flurry of political predictions across a state that President Trump won. Republicans warned that it was a “wake up” call for their party as elections loom in the fall, while Democrats cheered the upset victory as a sign of hope that Wisconsin was back in contention. In the state’s first special election of 2018, Patty Schachtner, a Democrat and the St. Croix County medical examiner, beat Representative Adam Jarchow, a Republican member of the State Assembly, by nine percentage points, according to preliminary election returns, decisively taking the seat in a rural western region near the Minnesota border." |

Nope it's a function of this: Last Week Was a Degrading Embarrassment. And a Microcosm of Trump; http://foreignpolicy.com/2018/01/16/last-week-was-a-degrading-embarrassment-and-a-microcosm-of-trump/ "Last week was a microcosm of the Donald Trump presidency, now almost exactly a year old. The week began with high hopes that Democrats and Republicans could reach an immigration compromise that would protect young immigrants brought to the country illegally as children from deportation. It ended with an utterly unnecessary, totally self-inflicted sh*tstorm — pardon my “locker room” language — over the president’s characterization of Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations as “sh*thole countries” whose immigrants should be barred in favor of Nordic newcomers. By the end of the week commentators and countries around the world were denouncing Trump’s racist, xenophobic sentiments. In any other administration, this would count as a Category 5 political hurricane, but no one imagines that it will sweep the “very stable genius” away. Why not? Because his crude remarks undoubtedly played well with his “deplorable” base and because it has become so common for Trump to say crazy, offensive things about which no one gets as worked up as they would if the same words had come from a “normal” politician. Indeed, Trump’s headline-grabbing insults against Africa and Haiti had the accidental benefit of distracting attention from all his other “holy sh*t!” moments last week." |
