One thing I have noticed is that no one is running as a stated Republican these days.
Maybe that’s local to here, but anyone running won’t mention that they are a Republican.

I reckon they are ashamed

If they fail to get anything done legislatively by around June of this year they'll all be heading for the lifeboats if they're up for reelection in November.

That's your version. Trump is constantly reminding Americans the consequences of an open border and free range immigrants from the Middle East and Northern Africa. It's something the media and Democrats refused to prioritize. You can go on stating Americans murdered more of their own annually. Why import more problems when our hands are full?
Trump can't decide where he stands, Mitch McConnell even said so:

McConnell: Unclear what Trump wants in deal @CNNPolitics http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2018/01/17/mcconnell-what-is-trump-for-sot-daca-mattingly-nr.cnn

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that the Republicans are not sure what President Donald Trump wants in a DACA deal, and until he figures it out what the President supports, a deal cannot be made."

Obviously the GOP on the Hill knows that this guy is a joke and they need to engage in DAMAGE CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trump has remained firm; No Wall, no DACA.............. :booboo:
Don't hold your breath:

Collins holds bipartisan meetings during government shutdown http://www.wmtw.com/article/collins-holds-bipartisan-meetings-during-government-shutdown/15839210

"Sen. Susan Collins held bipartisan meetings with nearly two dozen senators in her Washington office over the weekend."

How the shutdown ended for now @CNNPolitics http://cnn.it/2DxV9Tm

"After three days and countless bipartisan negotiations on the floor and behind closed doors, the government has reopened. And hundreds of thousands of federal workers will be able to show up for work Tuesday.

But behind the scenes, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle -- absent clear presidential leadership -- had to scramble to try to re-open the government and put the Capitol back together."
Within four weeks Democrats will vote to fund the wall with $18 billion in return for a restrictive DACA that the GOP would vote for anyway...This is winning ............... :victory:

Now even the Populists seem to be fleeing:

The Steve Bannon Void Might Doom Populism In 2018 Campaign https://n.pr/2Fd0trt

"Without Bannon at the helm — and the Mercers having distanced themselves from him — much of that anti-establishment organizational energy has disintegrated.

"Without a figurehead to mobilize and organize it, where [does that movement] go? These candidates were part of the movement because they believe that they would be funded by the Mercers and aligned with Trump. That's why they signed up," said Kurt Bardella, the former Breitbart spokesman.

And there is a legitimate question to be asked about how successful Bannon would have been. His 2018 political effort was in its infancy, with no formal organizing to speak of at the time of his estrangement with the president.

"This is a guy who is basically leading a movement that doesn't exist," Josh Holmes, McConnell's former chief of staff, told ABC News after Bannon's preferred candidate, Roy Moore, lost the Alabama Senate election last year. "Steve Bannon is sort of the emperor who had no clothes here."

Trump is a useful idiot to them and they'll abandon him as soon as he becomes too much of a liability.

Think back to the last week before the election, both Ryan and McConnell told the Republicans, "It's everyman for himself."

The G.O.P. is running on fumes right now.

Maybe that’s local to here, but anyone running won’t mention that they are a Republican.

I reckon they are ashamed
GOP angst over midterms grows; http://thehill.com/homenews/house/368436-gop-angst-over-midterms-grows

"For some Republicans, it’s starting to feel like 2006 — a wave election year that swept Democrats back into power in the House and Senate.

The retirement of two longtime California Republicans this week — just the latest in a string of House Republicans heading for the exits — has caused panic among some in the GOP who say it’s yet another sign that an anti-Trump, Democratic wave is forming."

Perfect storm builds against Republicans in California; http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/369254-perfect-storm-builds-against-republicans-in-california

"If Democrats are to reclaim the majority in the House of Representatives this year, they will almost certainly do so with the help of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s home state, where multiple favorable waves are building.

Almost a third of the House districts that elected a Republican but voted for Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 are in California. Almost all of those districts have seen explosive demographic growth that benefits Democrats."

GOP sees omens of a Dem wave in Wisconsin; http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/369474-gop-sees-omens-of-a-dem-wave-in-wisconsin

"A surprise loss in a special statehouse election Tuesday night in Wisconsin has set off a new round of alarm among Republicans worried that they could face a Democratic wave in this year’s midterm elections.

Democrat Patty Schachtner defeated Republican Adam Jarchow by about 10 points in Wisconsin’s 10th Senate District, a seat that had been under GOP control since 2001. President Trump carried the district by 17 points in the 2016 election.

The state Senate election in Wisconsin is another damning data point for Republicans."

Another one throws in the towel!

Everytime I read a headline stating that another Republican will not seek reelection, the Queen song, "Another one bites the dust..." starts running through my head. Now why is that, I wonder: BREAKING: US Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, chairman of House Appropriations Committee, says he will not seek reelection in 2018, a source familiar with his decision says - @AlexNBCNews

Don't look now but, Trump's losing traction on Capitol Hill:

Collins becomes centrist power player; http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/371320-collins-becomes-centrist-power-player?userid=2052

"Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is suddenly finding herself in the driver’s seat when it comes to getting legislation through the Senate.

The Maine Republican, a centrist in a party drifting to the right, is flexing her strength as a dealmaker and signaling she intends to be a power player while Republicans enjoy just a 51-49 edge in the upper chamber."

True Americans are quietly undermining Trump so as to take their country back!

The 14 GOP senators who voted against Trump’s immigration framework; http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/374321-the-14-gop-senators-who-voted-against-trumps-immigration-framework

"President Trump’s immigration framework faced an unexpected opponent this week as it crashed on the Senate floor: Republicans.

The opposition from more than a fourth of the GOP conference came despite an intense pressure campaign by the White House and the Department of Homeland Security, which shot down back-to-back bipartisan offers.

In the end, 14 GOP senators rejected Trump's proposal, helping make it the least popular of the Senate’s competing measures."
