The discussion on the Sunday talk shows heightened one of the strangest aspects of the debate around the Nunes memo: Republicans actively playing down its impact.

The Nunes memo ploy was one of the White House bits of fake news which work well on Twitter; however, the crisis provoked by the attack on the FBI, DoJ and SC Mueller are life-or-death matters of constitutional law and receive an intensity of scrutiny beyond the reach of Trump and his staff of sycophants.

Our Trumpie trolls can't handle it either but it is fun to watch them try.

Interesting how in a matter of three days GOP leadership and media pundits were telling us the Nunes memo marked beginning of the end of the Mueller investigation and heads will roll at the FBI. To the memo has no bearing on the Muller investigation - what so ever and the FBI is our nations preeminent law enforcement agency.

From the article and this supports what I have been contending,"...Ryan and company seem to be doing damage control. But if they truly believe that the memo won’t affect Mueller’s probe, they are badly mistaken."

And, "...the president believes the memo proves he’s the target of a “witch hunt.” And given the singular reach of his words, especially on the right, his version of events will be the correct one in the minds of millions. The avalanche of unreason is already well underway, it’s headed straight for Mueller and his team, and there’s nothing Ryan or Gowdy or anyone else on Capitol Hill can say to stop it."

A s**tstorm brews, things lead to things, once again, the left lug nuts, GA, won't be able to handle it. Hard to predict if it will be fun to watch the left defend this or not? :dunno:

Trump undermining the FBI for partisan political purposes certainly does undermine our national security.

May or may not be done but this is the beginning of what will be, for Mueller, a very difficult investigation to finish. Nunes, I have said it before, is a genius. Four pages as throw a huge monkey wrench into what is becoming a crap shoot.

The problem is that the costs associated with the memo far outweigh the gains Republicans have made. In fact, overall, releasing the memo may have hurt them more than helped them. Everyone pretty much sees it for what it is and only the most devoted Trump followers are outraged by it.

Sounds to me like GOP leadership changed their tune on the memo so they wouldn't be adding fuel to the fire concerning Mueller's Obstruction of Justice case against Trump - which was already a strong one - before the Nunes memo.

In three days, we've gone from being told this is the biggest scandal since Watergate to nothing to see here folks - everyone move along.

How can voters trust the GOP after the memo fiasco? Where once again, the party of Trump has proven itself to be totally corrupt and incompetent.

Bring on the mid-terms.

Nunes is now saying he is going to release up to five more memos. I guess he didn't learn from the thud of the the first one. Can the Republican Party survive the humiliation of five more of these turkeys?
