"The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican.
I mean, what I believe in is a tax system that is fair," he continued. "I don't think government can solve every problem. I think that we should make sure that we're helping young people go to school.

We should make sure that our government is building good roads and bridges and hospitals and airports so that we have a good infrastructure. I do believe that it makes sense that everyone in America, as rich as this country is, shouldn't go bankrupt because someone gets sick, so the things I believe in are essentially the same things your viewers believe in," Obama said.

Not really. The corporate Democrats have moved so far to the right,
today's so-called centrists are in fact Republicans . ( as we know them these days)

The 'blue dog' Dems kept us from getting single payer healthcare, helped bail out big banks that nearly took our economy down from the 1980's to 2008 and then turn around and blame the 'left' wing progressives and Bernie supporters, and Russia for losing to Trump in 2016. The DNC is pathetically entrenched in the same corruption that grips our entire government right now.

We're into stage 3 of the revolution so, too soon for speculation, but
one thing is certain-- a 3rd party will emerge strong from this game they're playing.

With the electoral college a 3rd party is doomed to failure unless it replaces one of the current ones.

I'm not jumping to conclusions until after this November's mid-terms.
That's when we'll hopefully have seen the paradigm shift toward a new progressive Democratic Party that can be trusted after 8 years of Bush light under Obama.

You will be disappointed. The country has moved Right which is what Obama was pointing out. Progressive policies might win in blue areas but they will not win in moderate, independent purple areas or red areas.

We are still stuck in the "me" era which means anti-tax sentiment and Trump populism can flourish at the expense of community focused progressive candidates. It is unfortunate and sad but it is the state of America for now.

Or maybe we are just tired of you people's (yes you people's) sanctimonious bull shiat....

After a half-century of your Ivy League “whiz kids,” “the best and the brightest,” and “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” Americans finally are yawning and are moving on.

Your self proclaimed best and brightest, with the most impressive resumes and degrees, not the “decadent, lazy, spoiled, whatever” of Middle America ran up $20 trillion in national debt.

Your self proclaimed best and brightest failed over a decade to achieve 3 percent economic growth.

Your supposedly self proclaimed smartest warped the health care system.

Your supposed brightest could not translate overseas interventions into a strategic or cost-to-benefit advantage.

Your anointed ones eroded the border.

Your most knowledgeable gave us state nullification of federal law.

Your purportedly most ethical and transparent weaponized the IRS, the FISA courts, the DOJ, and the FBI, undermined the idea of free-speech in the university, and politicized everything from the eroding NFL to the increasingly irrelevant Oscars.

Your so-called elite, not the middle classes, has made a desert and then had the audacity to call it an unmitigated success.

No wonder you people need safe spaces and we just yawn as you people keep on squawking...

Obama was certainly no republican but soon he will look conservative compared to the rest of the democrat party. The dems become more radical and more extreme everyday. In 2016 they put their first admitted socialist on the ballot. It won't be long before they field a full blown communist.

Sanders was the first candidate to challenge the establishment in 100 years with no help from the media, corporate donors or even his own party.

That is bigger than Trump winning the election .
