ugghhh, rules of Journalism... are there rules to journalism any more? The mods will have to speak on what the new rule is supposed to fix... my interpretation was that it was to avoid having opinion pieces in the news section as in people posting Breitbart and Salon articles as if they're news... as with all new rules, there's a slippery slope to them all. As I said, Trump's opinion is certainly news, a Congress critter's opinion on existing legislation... yes, news... someone in the private sector's view of a dubious, nearly tabloid story... not so much... but that's my opinion on what the mods said they were trying to change. |

Yes, there are rules of Journalism, despite the fact that some sources bend them to the breaking point. My take is that the mods are trying to clarify where certain articles go. By following the rules of journalism, they can effectively remove most of the subjectivity and guess work in their decisions. It may not reduce the number of complaints, but it will give them a solid foundation from which to justify their decisions. |

I hope they don't. It's to their benefit to adopt a more concise and established definition of News, op/ed, AA, MFAB, etc. |

It is. C2C said he 'agonized' over this move, which says to me he should not have moved it. D has been unwilling to admit C2C screwed up, hence my unhappiness. The first thing they should do is communicate. They don't, and don't all understand the rule change. |

By the way, this idea some have of it making a difference WHO the article about is profound ignorance of the first order. Makes no difference whether it's the pres or joe schmo, same rules apply. You are correct, the others are just stupid. |
