Vatican: Don’t trust report that Pope Francis denied reality of hell
Quote:

Vatican City, Mar 29, 2018 / 08:21 am (CNA/EWTN News).- On Thursday the Holy See stated that a reported interview between Pope Francis and an Italian journalist, which claims the Pope denied the existence of hell, should not be considered an accurate depiction of Francis’ words, but the author’s own “reconstruction.”

Did Pope Francis say there is no hell? Not quite, the Vatican insists

As noted in previous postings on "Foreign" ....

this Argentinian Pope is a strange, ill-educated, 'far' left-wing Marxist. The 'other' Pope, who is still alive (Benedict), is also shocked at what has become of the Catholic Church and this weird Pope. How in the hell (get it...?) did this happen?

Pope, in Holy Thursday prison visit, says death penalty not Christian
Quote:

ROME (Reuters) - Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of 12 prison inmates, including two Muslims and a Buddhist, in a Holy Thursday ritual and said the death penalty should be abolished because it is neither Christian nor humane.

Wow.

This weird Argentinian Pope has really "stepped into it." This is an especially strange series of missteps, especially during the Holy Week, and on this Good Friday.

The guy is hanging around, and has plenty of time for, people like Scalfari, a self described atheist, yet doesn't have the time to explain this bizarre series of events other than to say, my words were "reconstructed" by said atheist. Huh? What...? Is this for real? That's it, that's all he has to say on the matter? Again, ...wow. Pope Francis will be the talk of MANY Catholic's attending mass around the world over Easter (in the billions) on WHAT exactly he did mean. Is there a hell, or isn't there a hell? It goes to the very heart of Christianity, and is constantly mentioned in the "new" Testament by the four Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

A brief thought here...

For most Christians, the idea of eternal justice is central to their beliefs. It has to be. God WILL punish the sinners. The terrible, terrible acts of violence/depravity/killings committed by the evil and wicked, throughout the ages and time, will be punished by eternal damnation. It gives Christian's a sense of righteousness, fairness. There is a Judgement Day! If Pope Francis doesn't believe in that either (pause here....), he should wander down to the Sistine Chapel sometime over Easter and stare at the back wall for inspiration, Michelangelo's back wall, where figures are painted in very graphic detail depicting who goes up, and who goes down (so to speak) by the guy (God) in the middle. Damnation. Fire and brimstone. Justice.

If Pope Francis doesn't believe in hell, he has a lot of x'plainin to do....

Nero, he got away with it.
Ghengis Khan, he got away with it.
Attila the Hun, he got away with it.
Napoleon, he got away with it.
Vladimir Lenin, he got away with it.
Adolph Hitler, he got away with it.
Joseph Stalin, he got away with it.
Hillary Clinton, she got away with it.
Mao Tse Tung, he got away with it.
Pol Pot, he got away with it.

First, THAT has nothing to do with the topic here.

Second, the very idea that YOU think posting a 'far' left-wing loon on youtube as having a coherent argument about so-called "book banning" in the US would prove your silly point (there is such a thing as book burning in the US) is absolutely ludicrous. I watched that inane video. Up-chuck galore. It was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. A correspondent from RT (snicker here.... ) compares book burning from around the world (read: Russia), with the US by introducing a half-wit Professor (wretch here.... :oyvey ) on the subject, is just hilarious. Really? Comparable, are they? The guy on the tape was UPSET because no one was paying attention to HIS five favorite anti-American books, ...sniff, ...sniff. One could also ask the ding-a-ling RT "correspondent" as to how many copies of Robert Conquest's "The Great Terror" has she spotted in Moscow's book stores?

What a friggen joke....

Watching evangelicals whose theology was limited to Sunday school trying to engage with the theology of Pope Francis is a bit like a conversation between kids in a high school physics class and an expert in quantum physics. The two sides are so far apart in knowledge that dialogue is practically impossible. Of course, our Bible thumpers hate Francis because they think he is some sort of Communist, but the real stumbling block is that his is a religion of love while theirs is the angry father figure of the OT punishing liberals for sex.

The winners do not concern themselves with the opinions of the losers.

What were you saying George? Never mind......
I infer from this distinguished gentleman's remark ^^^ that he considers himself and his fellow Trumpettes to be winners because of the fluke victory in the Electoral College provided by Russian intelligence services. His ilk cannot grasp that a presidential election is not the same class of win as a high school football game. The end of the football game marks the end of the contest. Presidential election, especially by such a fluke as brought Trump to the White House, is not the end of the contest, it is the beginning. The contest is determined by what Trump can do with the opportunity he managed to snatch fraudulently from Mrs. Clinton.

And it is in the real, post-election contest that Trump and his shrinking band of elderly, racist gun nuts, have lost and lost catastrophically. Legislatively, they have accomplished nothing. Administratively, they have become an international laughing stock. Not only have they failed to put up any accomplishments, they have set the stage for their revolutionary defeat by an energized, new generation of Democratic voters.

The absurd notion that the winners do not concern themselves with the opinions of the losers has played a major role in the fatal collapse of the American fascist movement. Trump and little band of nativists have not concerned themselves with the opinion of women, non-whites, people concerned about healthcare, gun violence or wages. Their movement collapsed before Inauguration Day and has been mired it its own foul-mothed rhetoric ever since. It's all they've got.
Interesting. So this George believes that the Russian Intelligence services took over our voting system and gave the election to Trump?

Is this what you believe?
Russian intelligence did not "take over" the mechanisms of either the popular vote or the Electoral College. What Russian intelligence did do was to steal data and purchase data under front organizations in order to design propaganda and disinformation targeted at a carefully defined demographic audience through social media. These lies and fake news reached hundreds of millions of Americans and were echoed by major news media. Their carefully calculated audience was significantly tilted away from Clinton towards voting for Trump or not voting at all. At the same time, the Trump campaign coordinated its wild campaign rhetoric to win over disillusioned voters and motivate believers to get to the polls. The anti-democratic structure of the Electoral College, with its disproportionate weight given low population states and winner-take-all delegate votes was able to give Trump a majority in the EC despite a three million dollar plurality for Clinton in the popular voting. A mere 77,000 critically targeted votes in a couple swing states was all that was needed and the Russian intelligence campaign delivered more than that. Fox News won't tell you that, but now you know.
So trump won the Presidential election over Hillary Clinton because of better campaigning and tactics?

And.....? :dunno:
"if that **** wins we'll all hang from nooses"

Reflections on the Pope, on Holy Saturday, over morning coffee..... :)

The Brasilians, the late Frank Sinatra and even the current Pope Francis (!) (so I'm told) want us to be drinking more morning coffee You bet. As a matter of fact, if we refuse to do so, and thus lead a sinful life, the Pope has issued an edict in the Vatican's Evangelium Vitae, dutifully noting that we will thus "disappear" when we die..... :oyvey (Er, I think that's what he said, in Latin, ..er, let me get back to you on that one... :) )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJIrDkzfIqo

First, as per the comments above, of course the Pope would deny having said such a thing. Don't be silly. That's the point of the uproar. He was "actually" forced to deny that he said it. Stunning, ...breathtaking stuff. If THAT statement, published in an interview with the Pope Francis by a self-described atheist, were NOT denied, the Pope, the Swiss Guard, the nuns and all the worker's in the smallest country on earth, the Vatican, may as well pack-up their bags, paintings and sculptures and move to Argentina. Although, although I don't know how-in-the-hell they're gonna be able to move Michelangelo's David in the process. That rascal has got to be, what, 30 feet from head to toe? To Argentina! I understand that Che has a spare bedroom or two in his basement, .... :) .

The more interesting point here is what was NOT said in the denial. It wasn't like Pope Francis re-affirmed the existence of Hell. It was a kind of shuffling of feet, a non-denial, denial. It was strange. It was weird. One of the basic tenants of Christianity and the Pope didn't know how to defend it. I mean, like, it's in the bible fer Chrissakes....! Did HE really believe what he "may have" told his atheist friend? Making-up Christian doctrine as he goes along? Just like liberals/commies make-up morality, all the time, as they go along? The parallels are what are interesting here. This is a 'far' left-wing Pope. Thoroughly indoctrinated in the gibberish of South American leftism. Kinda like incorporating "some of the good points" of the voodoo religion, santeria, with Catholic doctrine. But, only the good points, .... .

Weird. Strange....
