Thanks to Trump’s tax cuts and military buildup, we’re now rocketing toward an economic calamity in which just servicing the interest on our spiraling debt, coupled with our other obligations, will push interest rates higher and crowd out almost everything else the federal government does.

Oh, I know what you’re saying: This doesn’t sound like winning at all. But that’s only because you misunderstood what Trump was trying to say.

Trump doesn’t define winning the way you and I do. It’s not about giving back or improving people’s lives; as I’ve written before, Trump has never done that anywhere, unless you count remodeling a skating rink.

Winning, in Trump’s mind, wasn’t about us. It was about him.

That's his default setting, regardless of the subject.

Yep.
If you read the article that’s the point. We have really allowed this guy to take command of the attention span of America much to our detriment as he wallows in his fake winning scam.

I gotta admit he is by far the best con man this country has ever seen.
He doesn’t pick pockets, he gets his flock to hand over their wallets willingly
Their wives, their kids futures too nothing is safe from his greed.

It’s pretty amazing, but the “winning” part...that’s all about self service for Trump and by Trump.

The good news is that like all of his kind, they are in temp positions and they are all ultimately disposable.

There's no doubt the debt is going to bury us. Our unfunded liabilities from liberal entitlements and government pensions is multiples of the 20+ trillion dollar debt. Interest on the debt is already over 300 billion/year and growing. If interest rates go up the federal government is going to sheit the bed.

Get ready snowflakes, someone has to pay for liberal generosity.

I estimated that about 60% of the article was about the author whining and not about Trump winning. The interest on the debt goes by in large to Americans. Higher interest rates are not an issue when one considers that rates are rising on what were historically low rates for years. Interest rates in past decades have been much higher that what these rates are expected to be.

I'd say that's pretty much his only setting. Everything is about him, all the time.

Higher interest rates usually indicate inflation which will help reduce the real value of the debt. The downside is new debt and debt rolling over will demand higher debt payments. Either way we are in debt up to our eyeballs and there's no easy, tax the rich fix, like our liberal friends envision.

Suffering builds character. That's a win.

Most of those social costs have at home benefits. Even for people like you.
The wars we have constantly engaged in, either trying to get into them, or out of them are another story. Little benefit with big debt.
As it is now we have a guy going for the glory and wasting your hard earned money down the drain to do it.
Go on pal, cheer him on.

Debt from wars is insignificant when compared to unfunded entitlement liabilities. Handing out money you don't have does indeed benefit someone, the problem is someone else is going to have to pay it back. I'm too old to worry about the debt, the next four generations are going to get slammed, I've been saying that for 20 years. What's funny is your side is talking about free college and free healthcare. Good luck with that, that would bankrupt the country in under 10 years.

As far as “ free college” goes, and other benefits as well, the people getting that “free college” will be the ones paying for it ...so why do you care?

These social programs aren’t Ponzi schemes. They are investments in the future.
They will only collapse when the people allow that to happen. Hopefully they don’t get that stupid.
But ya never know...there are signs that there might be that many stupid people.
