Nobody likes telemarketing and spam calls, but if you own a Pixel, Nexus, or Android One device, you may never again have to deal with them.

9to5Google reports that Google is planning to update its default phone dialer app with a new feature that will send spam calls straight to voicemail. The app already warns users about potential spammers by turning the incoming call screen red, but this new feature goes beyond that.

"When a potential spam call is detected, it will be sent straight to voicemail," 9to5Google reports. "As such, the phone will not ring and you won't be interrupted."

Hopefully this capability will eventually trickle down to all Android phones.

Already does....the Android Phone app Security Master has a feature that when the phone rings it autosearches a known spam and harassment database and then shows a red icon if it's spam, harassment, sales etc and if you hit that it blocks the call from coming through ever again....straight to VM, also the database is also user driven so you and or the user base can flag numbers and then they are added to the db.....works well....after about a week the number of calls going straight to VM increased exponentially..

Just one of about 20 main features.

Lastly there is a relatively new technology (6 months) we've incorporated in our marketing across several of our businesses called "Voice drops" that we purposely set to go straight to VM....that way a sales weasel can follow up via phone or email with "Hey did you get or phone call?" and then the rest of the sales funnel flows naturally....

We also use a bot we had built that will go out in whatever niche we set it for and scrape the entire web for whatever we want in certain target business (position on google, number and quality of reviews, location, number of competitors, keywords etc... and then it automatically jumps to their website and see if it has a working contact form and then drop in our initial message into the contact form and hits submit.

We have just finished a similar bot for facebook messenger but may have to scrap it after the latest Zuckerburg travails as they revamp their API's....might be a quick 10 grand in programming flushed down the toilet....

Liberals, you don't need to re-write The Constitution....You just need to re-read it.
