Again, your numbers come from the anti-immigrant FAIR organization and do not include revenue (taxes paid). When they look at everything including federal, state and local, immigrants have a net benefit, mostly from paying federal taxes but not collecting federal benefits. Illegals do have a small net cost to state and local governments. https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/110th-congress-2007-2008/reports/12-6-immigration.pdf - Study focuses on state and local, not federal https://www.cato.org/blog/fairs-fiscal-burden-illegal-immigration-study-fatally-flawed - CATO critique of the FAIR analysis you used https://www.gao.gov/assets/230/221495.pdf - GAO analysis of NET cost to government. Keep in mind, this does not include any cost/benefit to industry |

It was a joke based on a hypothetical family. Like if I had asked " Did your ex-wife run off with a pothead musician ? Is that why you hat liberals so much ?" See ? |

Yeah. Run along now. Accuse someone of 'crossing the line' and call him an A hole, then when you realize "oh maybe he was just joking " you leave the headline out there with no retraction - anything to smear the progressives. Edited by _g R_, Apr 26 2018, 12:42 PM.

Americans may not be too surprised to learn that the 5.6 percent unemployment rate the U.S. Department of Labor is touting is entirely misleading. According to Gallup, the real unemployment rate is currently 12.6 percent. The unemployment rate calculated by the Department of Labor is seriously flawed because it does not factor in whole groups of people that Americans would recognize as being unemployed, including those who are severely underemployed. For example, a college graduate who is working only a few hours per week at the moment because he cannot find full-time work is not considered to be unemployed, even if his income is completely unlivable. From 2015 ( the numbers have't changed much in 3 years ) https://www.thenewamerican.com/economy/commentary/item/20042-true-unemployment-rate-is-far-higher-than-5-6-percent-notes-gallup |

I remember how Republicans were talking up the wonderful GWB economy, much of which he inherited from Clinton, right up until the point that the bottom fell out of the housing market and the entire economy nearly crashed. And then Obama had to step in and save things, for which Republicans refuse to give him any credit. I imagine this will end up going the same way, except it might not take eight years for it to all go kablooey. |

Edward Pinto, a mortgage-industry consultant who was the chief credit officer at Fannie Mae in the late 1980s, argued in a WSJ op-ed essay that “most agree that the housing bubble started in 1997.” Who was the president in 1997? Slick Willy Clinton who apparently either ignored the trend of pending doom or chose to ignore it. Bush inherited it and apparently either ignored the trend or pending doom or chose to ignore it. Obama on the other hand had nothing to do with something that already happened. The recovery would have occurred regardless of whom was in office at the time. Obama did jacks**t to do anything at all. Edited by peewee, Apr 29 2018, 10:41 PM.

I agree with everything you said - who can forget the famous Krugman quote "To fight this recession the Fed needs…soaring household spending to offset moribund business investment. [So] Alan Greenspan needs to create a housing bubble to replace the Nasdaq bubble." In 2002 mind you - but you are correct, the catalyst was high risk lending and the foundation was laid with the community reinvestment act. |
