If that were true then if I made $300k a year and you made $50k a year, and I paid 10% in federal taxes while you paid 15% in federal taxes, I would be paying less then you.

But we know that's not the case and instead I'm paying $30k to your $7.5k Your argument is fundamentally flawed.
Given the same income, an apples to apples comparison, a blue tax taxpayer would pay less. Sweet Baby Jesus, try common sense, it won't hurt.
Yes, but it's not an "apples to apples" comparison, is it? Incomes tend to be higher in blue states, which means that blue states tend to pay more taxes, even if they pay a small percentage on an individual "equal income to equal income" basis.

Why should blue states be expected to pay even more to subsidize red states? It makes no freaking sense.
High Tax State A: Wages: 150,000 - 15,000 prop tax - 10,000 income tax = 125,000 X federal tax rate 25% = $31,250.

Lower Tax State B: Wages: 150,000 - 5,000 prop tax - 5,000 income tax = 140,000 X federal tax rate 25% = $35,000.

If this is still confusing I suggest you sue your third grade teacher.
Why are you continuing to try to prove a point I've already granted to be correct?

We still pay more taxes because our incomes are higher. Here's an example:

California median household income - $67,738
Mississippi median household income - $41,754

As can clearly be seen, by anyone who understands "math", Californians make more than Mississippians. Which means they pay in federal taxes as well.

High tax states are high wage states. Individuals who can make significantly more take-home may move to another state but when all the costs and benefits are factored out, most people stay where they are. There is more to the decision than just the money. Significantly, the trend for a century has been to move out of the low-tax, low-wage states to where the good jobs are even with the higher taxes. That's why blue state residents are so much smarter than red state residents.

For years blue states have exported a third or more of their tax burden to residents of other states. In places like California, where the top income-tax rate exceeds 13%, that tax could be deducted on a federal return. Now that deduction for state and local taxes will be capped at $10,000 per family.

Consider what this means if you’re a high-income earner in Silicon Valley or Hollywood. The top tax rate that you actually pay just jumped from about 8.5% to 13%. Similar figures hold if you live in Manhattan, once New York City’s income tax is factored in. If you earn $10 million or more, your taxes might increase a whopping 50%.

Such an effect would stimulate a tax revolt similar to what the TEA party provoked for middle-class earners. This would be a very good thing. I hope we can tear down the federal tax code and start again from scratch. Nobody, from Sanders to Trump wants to stand up and defend the mess we have now. As long as things are done legally and transparently, our constitutional democracy can come up with a much better system than this corrupt charade put together by lobbyists and people who make a helluva lot more than ten million a year.
