The outrage of Trump fans at every one of these stories over the past year is understandable. If this story were the first or only one about Trump being called an idiot or a moron by his senior staff, it would be shocking and disbelieved by many. However, we have had these stories on a weekly basis and each time the foam dies down, they have proved to be accurate in the ensuing angry exchanges and staff firings. It is standard procedure now. Why Trump is unable to build an administration is an important aspect of American policy at this time. Partisan denial and deflection have lost all credibility.
I'm going to say that I don't quite believe it in Kelly's case. Career military men, particularly those who have risen to higher ranks, are keenly aware that speaking ill of their superiors is not only bad for morale, but can also be a career killer. If Kelly was reported to have said it in private to close friends, who might be expected to not repeat it to the media, I might be more inclined to believe it was true. But to White House staffers, directly? I'm just not seeing it.

Of course, I have been wrong before, so who knows?
Right now he denies it. But as to it's truth, consider this. First there is President Trump, nuff' said.

Second he is a career Marine. A man of honor and discipline that entered into a situation where there is no honor and certainly no discipline. What do you think he would think of men and women who lack these virtues he lives his life by?

President Trump publically acts like an idiot. A man of no honor, no discipline - a man that throws out insults and embarrasses the Office of President and the Nation daily.

So... :dunno:

Maybe we need an "Unconfirmed News" or "Nearly News" board?....
You mean the standard way that news has been done by a free press in a free society for as long both have coexisted in the same place.

So get over it.

About the only thing a free press has done of late is replace factual news reporting with might, maybe, possibly news.... :oyvey
No. That is the conservative lie and line that is tearing down the foundations of a free society that will damage this Republic for a generation or longer - if not permanently.

"Fake News" - Irresponsible rhetoric on a level that is shocking.

I don't suppose that any of the sources on this story are on the record?
Which is an accepted standard.

It does not denote deception.

In the current media environment where several news outlets (NBC being one of them) have run stories that were wholly and or partially untrue based upon the testimony of "Unnamed sources" then I think this must be taken with a grain of salt.

For folks on the left (which includes the entire staff at NBC news) , this story stinks of confirmation bias. This sounds exactly like what the NBC people think of Trump so when a source gives them what they want to hear they run with it. Kelly has fired a bunch of people. Literally all of their sources could be disgruntled former employees but they are not listing them as such.

Maybe this does not deserve the same level of disdain as the pizza gate story but based upon the "evidence" of unnamed confidential sources that story is as valid as this one.

Hence, my questioning the story.

Incidentally, I am not questioning whether or not this was written as a news story or not. NBC obviously thinks this is news and they did at least give some space to the White House denials of the story content.

Your cautious skepticism is well justified. In a larger sense, the fact that we are having another version of this story after many others points to something undeniably wrong with the White House team. Whether Trump is, in fact, an idiot or, as his previous Secretary of State called him, a moron, isn't really the issue. Something isn't right, that's for sure, and Trump is in the middle of it.

The current media environment as you put it is only a result of the conservative goal of tearing down the media to try and delegitimize any stories that does not serve their cause or President Trump. Its a lie and one that is doing a great deal of damage to the nation.

We all watch the antics of this President daily and antics is the word. We see a man that is infantile, emotional, dishonest, dishonerable with a profound and demonstrated lack of understanding of events and even his own position.

From his tweets, through "Fox and Friends" to his daily briefings literally being reduced to one step over a picture book he's been a disgrace and an embarrassment. He is an idiot. It is not a stretch of the imagination that frustrated individuals stuck dealing with this guy would blurt it out from time to time.

The funny part here is that due to your issues with the President you think I am defending him here. I am not. I take issue with this story because it sounds greatly like NBC went and found several people that Kelly fired and then asked if they could say anything damaging about him. The problem I have with it is that this story does not really jive with Kelly's history as I know it.

Is it remotely possible that this man who has spent his entire life in the military is unable to control his mouth around subordinates while talking about his superior? Yeah, I suppose that there is a remote possibility of that. The thing is, the behaviour that they are accusing General Kelly of is behaviour that would get you kicked out of the military. Men who reach the rank of General have more discipline than that.

So you will have to excuse me if I don't accept the stories of unnamed sources about a man who has honorably served this nation for his entire life.

I'm sorry...I can't take this story on face value...I agree with the others that no one who reaches the status of General Kelly would so hazardly venture his personal opinion to someone who intentionally leak it.

It's more likely former employees he's fired who admittedly may have had grievances, or not, and went to the media and fed them things which while not confirmed would make for good evening ratings in a 24hr news cycle.

Do I think Kelly has to do a lot of hand-holding when it concerns President Trump, yes, from all appearances, yes....it appears though he's finally settled into the role to a degree Kelly, the RNC, and most of the Party leadership can endure.

So yeah....grain of salt kinda story here.

According to C2C this is news...

Posted Image

If they have multiple confirmed sources and backup material then it is news. I doubt that exists for that paper so it is not.

The fact that the sources do not want their names used does not diminish their veracity. It is the job of the news editor to verify that the reporter has valid sources. Reliable news outlets vet their sources, confirm their sources, and have more than one source.

The Right likes to play ignorant (like their President) when bad news hits them where it hurts. Their supposed ignorance does not impact the veracity of the story.

Kelly has publicly made mistakes in his language. It is not unreasonable that he was even more candid in private conversations. According to the reporting, his actions in the White House are starting to hurt morale and that is why people are speaking out. He is not, apparently, the steady hand he makes himself out to be.
