Funny. Here they call it a "boondoggle".
But in Europe, China, Japan and everywhere else it's called progress.

See, "progress" in Amarrika is occupying Iraq and half the Middle East for their oil and selling billions in arms to Saudi Arabia,
or deregulating the fossil fuel industry so they can pollute our air and water with impunity.

You don't see the analogy ? We spend our money on wars, while they're building their infrastrcture for a fraction of what we're wasting in the Middle East.

The USA has 900 military bases in 138 countries.
I recognise your analogy....Simplistic to say the least...How about when the rest of the world stops the warmongering....CA get's their bullet train?

Illegal immigrants gets free ride on the train. Taxpayers, especially home owners, are forced to subsidize the train fare through property tax increase. Leftists call this a humanitarian thing to do.

See, now I know you're full of s**t if you're saying something like that.

I'm just going to leave the following two things for you to read up on:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Route_of_California_High-Speed_Rail

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_High-Speed_Rail

Facts are inconvenient to leftists.
What facts do you have Drudge?

See my friend, my *actual* facts refute your underlying claim that it is (only) being built in sparsely populated areas. Either you're being intentionally obtuse, or you're swell at rivaling Forrest Gump. The purpose of a HSP isn't to necessarily serve ALL places along the route, but to provide a quick means to get to and from in the area, and often what happens is there are spoke like routes that run off the main line. The line itself DOES actually cover those places you mentioned - you're just not listening - as it goes through the state of california.

:oyvey
Long stretch is being in sparsely populated area.
CA has 5 major airports
Airports are in densly populated area

Where are the lies?
It's hitting those cities you mentioned...ya know, those densely populated areas....

WTH are you going on about? It's hitting the main population centers as best it can, and spoke like routes are being planned/built off of it to serve the rest of California.

Rome wasn't built in the day friend, don't expect a knew concept to be done that way.

Let's do this slowly...

CA has 34 million registered vehicles and 5 major airports. The amount of money, $100 billion could have used to repair roads and building new reservoirs. You know how leftists were saying the state needs to do something about the drought. The project will not finish until 2033 the earliest. Even if it is in operation, the rail will run at a loss for the lifetime usefulness of the system. The CEO of the railway said he has no idea how to pay for the system. But you know what, there are happy endings to this boondoggle.

Democrats fatten the unions' paycheck. Jerry Brown cronies are richer. Taxpayers who are paying for the project are probably dead by then. And of course, f*** the taxpayers, the leftists' response when questioned about this project.
Kate Steinle was separated from her family permanently but leftists didn't seem to mind.

The DOT is currently auditing the pricey West Coast venture- something critics claim is long overdue on what’s essentially a pet project that’s billions in the red, seven years behind schedule and appears to have no plausible way of living up to its goal of getting riders across the state in three hours or less.

According to the DOT, the inspector general’s audit will examine the Federal Railroad Administration’s oversight of nearly $3.5 billion in federal grant money awarded to the project.

So, CA is sucking the ret of the country for their massive blunder? Is there ANYTHING liberals do well besides waste other people's money?
