I look forward to the USA closing all its military bases in South Korea.............. :usa:
Agreed...

Bring them home....

They've been on the wall for 65 years...

Trump needs to focus more so on the male vote. He should have nationalized the Boy Scouts when they decided to admit girls.

It is the right wingers like you that vote for cowards who denigrate the flag, and those that serve it. To equate kneeling during the anthem in protest, an action proposed by an actual hero not some loud mouthed coward, with the burning of the flag only shows the depraved state of mind you function in.
How many US flags you have currently soaking in kerosene?
What was it that Trump used to get out of service in Vietnam?...Shin splints right....devastating no doubt, his time spent at a military academy must have demoralized him to know he would have been kept at home while his fellow students served their country, luckily his father's money I'm sure allowed him to get over his remorse quickly.
Vietnam, like Iraq, was another meat grinder that should have never happened. The 50,000 boys, and probably an equal amount suicides, died for nothing.
No doubt, but while poor men like my father, and his 2 brothers had to serve, Trump's money and familial connections ensured he'd never have to go. Then to use as a backup, a stated bone spur, now you'd think that something so crucial to not going to war he'd remember just where the spur was.

There is roughly only 38k troops, mostly Army and Air Force stationed in South Korea now, primarily logistical units to prep bases for military units that deploy for training to Korea. We haven't had a substantial combat element there for years.

It’s time to bring that 38k home.
And forget about the threat from Russia, and China. But then too, after years of "discussing" issues with the right wing I am never surprised at their ignorance of facts, and lack of truth:

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/south-korea-pays-more-than-peanuts-to-host-us-troops-the-korea-herald

"South Korea pays about half of the costs for maintaining the 28,000 American troops, which reached 944.1 billion won (S$1.1 billion) in 2016. The payment has gone up steadily - from 488.2 billion won in 2001 to 680.4 billion won in 2005 and 790.4 billion in 2010.

Former US Ambassador Mark Lippert was well timed to mention that South Korea picks up about 55 per cent of non-personnel costs for the US military and pays for more than 90 per cent of the Pyeongtaek base, the largest overseas US military facility where key units will be relocated. South Korea is also the only country that provides support personnel - the Korean Augmentation to the US Army - for which the Seoul government spends about 10 billion won each year.

One more thing to note when one counts "defence surplus and deficit" is the fact that South Korea is a major purchaser of US arms, having spent 36.4 trillion won on weapons and military equipment over the past 10 years"

Eisenhower sent the first troops over there as military trainers for the So. Vietnamese. Then in 1956 after the French left the US took over the duties of training the So. In 1961 Kennedy sent over the spacial forces, and the rest is history. Hard to blame just Johnson.

Better then having a coward denigrate others who did serve as "disrespecting" the flag.

https://taskandpurpose.com/troops-kaepernick-national-anthem-trump/

“I can tell you, speaking for three generations of my family, it is PRECISELY for men like Kaepernick, and his right to peacefully protest injustice, that we were willing to serve,” said Michael Sands, a Green Beret who is the son of a World War II veteran and father of an Army officer who served in Afghanistan. “Want to respect the American flag? Then respect the ideals for which it stands. Bullying language and calling peaceful protesters ‘sons of bitches’ who should be fired aren’t among them.”

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s pledge on Tuesday to cancel military exercises on the Korean Peninsula surprised not only allies in South Korea but also the Pentagon.

Mattis not surprised by Trump's call to end military exercises: Pentagon

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/mattis-surprised-trumps-call-end-military-exercises-pentagon/story?id=55841257

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis was not surprised by President Donald Trump’s call to end U.S. military exercises with South Korea and had been consulted beforehand, a Pentagon official said Tuesday.

As reports emerged that the South Korean government was surprised by the announcement, questions were raised about whether Mattis and other U.S. policymakers had also been caught off guard.

“There were no surprises, they had spoken on all of these issues in advance,” Dana White, the chief Pentagon spokesperson, told ABC News when asked if Mattis knew about the president's announcement.

N. Korea's nuke is a bargaining chip for both sides, nothing more. What do you think would happen to N. Korea if they fire one into the South?
I was responding to Peewee's claim that Trump has ended the nuclear threat from North Korea. No, he has not.

The threat is still there. It is still quite real. And Kim Jong Un is still crazy enough to use them if he feels his back is against the wall.

While not discounting the fact that negotiating with NK is better than trading insults and barbs, the fact remains that the threat has not been neutralized, so perhaps rightists should stop trying to give Trump more credit than he is due.
Kim Jong is China's puppet. China for sure don't want a nuke to go off in their backyard.
And that situation is different after the summit than before the summit in what way?

Bottom line is this, NK still has nukes. It still just as capable of firing those nukes as it was before the summit. The threat has not been eliminated. Period.

Maybe a year or two down the road, that will be different. But today, it's not. And claiming otherwise is not only untrue, it's dangerous.
The threat from Iran, China, and Russia is still available. The US let these countries know that if one nuke is fired on the US, expect swift retaliation. We need to let N. Korea know also. This summit opens the door for that dialogue.
Kate Steinle was separated from her family permanently but leftists didn't seem to mind.

It is stupid to try to pretend otherwise. Sure, talking is better and perhaps over time negotiations will reach a point where the NK nuclear threat has been eliminated. But that day is not today.

Tomorrow Trump could tweet something about Kim Jong Un or Kim could say something about Trump, and we would be right where we were a week ago. Just because things are currently calmer, doesn't mean the threat is gone.
