Disgrace to the Uniform...

Less than Honorable is a gift... Should have been Dishonorable...

And a Year in Leavenworth to show him the error of his ways...

Free speech is a bitch. Suck it up buttercup.
Lucash...darn you....you should have not shared your weight thing....cuz now every post it's taking all the restraint I got not to make cracks to things like "suck it up buttercup"

:spank:
It's okay, I'm weigh ahead of you on the jokes. I often poke fun at myself, and it's often with the full weight of my wit.

Tons of fun I'm sure...

Not when you are representing the service... No such animal when you are on duty or in Uniform which he was...

Look it up my friend...

Trump needs to focus more so on the male vote. He should have nationalized the Boy Scouts when they decided to admit girls.

I'm rather curious about the butt hurt on this. See, another soldier/cadet, Vasillios Pistolis, is a neo-nazi sympathizer and actually marched in the charlottesville march with the various fascists, etc. and he gets what amounts to a slap on the hand...but this guy (from what i know of it) gets discharged over expressing his opinion?

So...why is the nazi still in the military, but the socialist/communist booted it? Are they saying that nazism is a set of values that works for the military? I hardly think so as my grandfather and other family fought that s**t tooth and nail.

Pistolis, 19, will be imprisoned for a month, docked pay and reduced in rank to private first class, and then likely forced from the Corps, according to a USMC spokesman.

Nazis and Communists are basically the same thing. They both love BIG government and abhor individual freedom, they just wear different uniforms...just so you know.

Conduct unbecoming an officer. UCMJ Art. 133
test1 117 (Side 117)Conduct “must offend so seriously against law, justice, morality or decorum as to expose to disgrace, socially or as a man, the offender, and at the same time must be of such a nature or committed under such circumstances as to bring dishonor or disrepute upon the military profession which he represents.” William Winthrop, Military Law and Precedents 711-12 (2d ed.1920)).

All that is required is for the offender’s conduct to fall below the level of conduct expected of officers and to seriously expose him to public opprobrium. United States v. Rogers, 54 M.J. 244, 256 (C.A.A.F. 2000).

Private conduct may constitute an offense under Article 133, UCMJ, and there is no requirement that the conduct be otherwise criminal. United States v. Moore, 38 M.J. 490 (C.M.A. 1994); United States v. Norvell, 26 M.J. 477, 481 (C.M.A.1988). Conduct constitute an offense elsewhere under the UCMJ. United States v. Taylor, 23 M.J. 314, 318 (C.M.A.1987).

Applies to female officers. United States v. Norvell, 26 M.J. 477 (C.M.A.1988).

I'm thinking his Oath that he took to uphold the Constitution and the Republic would be at odds over is belief that another political philosophy would win eventually other then our representative form of government?

He definitely disgraced the uniform and the service...now...do I believe he has a 1st amendment Right to speak in such a fashion...yes.....but I also have to wonder why it took the Army this long to find out bout his political leanings and why it wasn't caught while at the Academy, more why would he want to serve in the military dedicated to the beliefs enshrined in our Constition when it was clear he'd be more at home in Soviet Russia

I imagine that you will agree, Tsalagi, with the following: In the forces, your uniform is your uniform, and your civvies are your civvies, but no matter what you are wearing and where ever you might be, you represent your service 24/7, and any conduct that is in detriment to your service, whichever arm it may be, should be punished, and rightly so.

There are no conscripts, which means that everybody in the forces made the choice to serve his or her country voluntarily.

If you want rights, then get a discharge, but until you do, you agreed to sacrifice your rights to protect those of others when you took your oath. ;)

Cheers

The guy was given an "Other and Honorable" discharge for conduct unbecoming. He was not given this for his antics at graduation. He was given this for his activities after he took his position in his unit.

Certainly the Army wanted the guy out from the second that he pulled his social media stunt but you know that they patiently waited and crossed their T's and dotted their I's so that we they brought the hammer down there would be no escape.

In the case of his cap, it's defacing military property and in the case of the T-shirt he is completely improperly dressed on parade. Jesus, in my days if you couldn't see your face in your boots because we had to bull them into mirrors, you got your head chewed off by the D.I., if you were lucky, and jankers, if you weren't.

I only hope he has the opportunity to live in a communist country. Young people are often lured by the teachings of Karl Marx. I have to admit, when I was 20, I was once intrigued by the writings of Marx. Instructors can be very convincing and a young mind is vulnerable to such radical ideas. If he had a better understanding of the Russian revolution, post WWII politics, the rise of the Soviet Empire, Pol Pot and Mao's China I have to think he would feel rather foolish wearing that Che t-shirt.

Aside from your summation of the ideologies characteristics being off, I'm glad to hear he is being booted as well. At least the book is being thrown at them both in an equal manner.

Not everyone who has communist views, favors some aspects of it (or other ideologies) is a kool aid drinking person. I find some aspects of it interesting and ideal, albeit impractical, but that doesn't mean I'm planning on toppling over anything.

Well maybe a Circle K store when they're out of my favorite jalepeno corndogs, but...i digress.

I suspect he wasn't a full blown communist sympathizer until more recent (within the last few years or so)

I'm sure you're a decent guy PA, but having your entire world view hinge upon a hypocritical fiction writer who herself took government benefits is a bit...um....much? Ironic even.
