On June 24th several Facebook users criticised the fact that many migrants from the Aquarius boat had thrown away clothes and towels donated to them by the Red Cross.
The clothes were found in a dumpster in Cheste’s Educational Complex, where many of the migrants have been housed until they have finalised their asylum applications.
This, despite the fact that the very first night in Spain, some migrants were spotted at a restaurant in Cheste paying for drinks using €100 bills.
Even the younger migrants, who were housed in a student residence in Alicante as we previously reported, were spotted going out to party on their first night, despite Liberal Spanish commentators stating that they were in “shock” and “traumatised” due to the crossing from Libya.

OK, you quote the hard-right website, voiceofeurope, which in turn cites casoaislado.com, who in turn quote from La Razon, which is a mainstream source. As you can imagine some of the Voiceofeurope states differed "strangely" from the La Razón article.
Now we all know that voiceofeurope and Breitbart are nutty favourites of the US right wing, but let's take a look at the "middleman;" namely casoaislado.com
"There are websites such as "casoaislado.com" and "diarioespana.com", which can not be considered as means of communication, which with less than two years of existence have managed to have millions of readers. Basically they are excellent at viralizing content on the Internet, in fact, they are defined in their web page. These media build news with a very striking headline and with elements that are often false but that attract the attention of an important mass of people. Then, as I said, they are very good at viralizing the content and capturing the attention of many people, for this reason they always touch xenophobic, racist, homophobic, ..."

Hell, why not see what one of the most prestiges Spanish dailies has to say on casoaislado.com
"But this business model has created a perverse incentive: making money off disinformation. Eight of the main Spanish websites offering partisan and biased content, or outright hoaxes, are making money from ads managed by the Google Display Network, according to analysis by EL PAÍS. These websites are Periodista Digital, OK Diario, Esdiario, Gaceta, Caso Aislado, La Tribuna de Cartagena, Mediterráneo Digital and Digital Sevilla, which rank between 60th and 5,001st on Spain’s most popular website chart, according to the analytics firm SimilarWeb.
These websites are very different to one another in terms of resources and content: some have dedicated newsrooms that occasionally break exclusive stories; others are run by amateurs who simply recycle content from major media outlets, often doing nothing more than tweaking the headlines. Yet others post xenophobic, sexist and demagogic material, and even deliberate hoaxes.
In January, several companies pulled their ads from Mediterráneo digital after this website wondered in an article “why are feminists uglier than regular women.” Caso Aislado works much like the outlets that have popularized the Northern League in Italy, with headlines that exaggerate the problems derived from immigration, such as “Illegal immigrants use fake IDs to obtain organ donations.”

Which brings us onto La Razon, the Spanish mainstream news site. This Spanish, right-wing newspaper is run by Paco Marhuenda, who often appears on TV debates and is a respected journalist.
Here's a google translation of a relevant paragraphs
They are not incarcerated and, therefore, can go outside. Yesterday, many people went around this "base camp" to eat, buy tobacco, go for a walk and, some, to flee to another city or country. Probably never come back to Cheste again. Many took advantage of this first outing to call their acquaintances in Spain or "contacts" that perhaps the mafias they had gone through to continue their journey. Since they arrived in Valencia, they obtained a 45-day permit to travel throughout the Schengen territory;
Now, Casoaislado.com changes that to:
"The vast majority has taken advantage of to leave Valencia and contact with acquaintances or even with the mafias that will be taken to their final destinations."
You will notice that it is now "the vast majority" and the "Perhaps" concerning contacting the mafia has been converted into a certainty.
Now, the following from La Razon (which is the original source) probably explains why the immigrants that disappeared ditched their Red-Cross clothing:
"Those of the "Aquarius" are quickly recognized because they are all equally dressed, with the emergency kit that Red Cross gave them as soon as they got off the boat: new black tracksuits and sneakers with very wide white soles. Receive this kit and eat a "halal" menu"
The last thing that they wanted was to be immediately recognised as illegal immigrants while travelling across Spain and into Europe.
So lets hear a testimony from one of the immigrants, as published by La Razon:
"Sami Benosmone, 28 years old, when stepping on land, at last. It was one of the first because it arrived in the "Dattilo", the first of the boats. The first thing he did was a police control. The National Police assigned an NIE to each one with the name and age they gave (they were undocumented). The fingerprints were taken and they were photographed. "He looked like a criminal: front and profile!" He laughs.
He is Algerian but he went to work in Libya and he was caught in the war. He says he was 21 when he decided to leave his country because he is the older brother and wanted to earn more money to help at home. He started working for a "rich man" in the city of Zuara, a coastal city in northwestern Libya. He worked as a painter in the mansion when the war began to get bloodier.
"One day walking down the street I was stopped by some guys and they told me they were from the Army. They asked for my passport and money in exchange for returning it but I did not have anything on it. They broke it in my face and I was undocumented, "he explains.
Then the man for whom he worked took advantage of his situation and made him a slave. "He stopped paying me and gave me food every two days. One day we fought and he attacked me with a knife, "he says, showing a scar on his side. In the street, many people learned that I did not have a passport and they tried to capture me as a Daesh terrorist. "
Yeah, I know, Mozzie - you couldn't give a s**t what drives people to flee countries, cuz you're only interested in hate websites, right?
But, let's hear a little more testimony from La Razon (information that wasn't quoted by your hate buddies over on voiceofamerica and casoaislado.
"«Every day I heard shots, my head became ill, I had to leave». The only way, he explains, was the sea. And as almost all exits are controlled by the mafias. "Nobody can leave illegally on their own," he says. «I had to pay 1,000 euros for a place in a zodiac. We were almost one hundred people in each and that night we left six. " Almost fifteen days ago of this. It happened "very cold at night, very hot afterwards, but above all very afraid". As it was the last days of the Ramadam, he did not mind being without food. But there they were adrift, waiting for someone to rescue them. The boat driver is just another immigrant who wants to flee but, in exchange for doing this work, he does not have to pay anything to the mafia, according to Sami. After a day at sea, the "Aquarius" arrived. He had already become a colleague of a compatriot, whom he met in the Zodiac. His name is Seife, he is 30 years old and now they are "brothers". Seife still has wounds on the lips of salty water and the scorching sun for so many days. "When we went up we were relieved but after a while Italy would not let us in and that was going to be our destiny, according to the mafia to whom he gave his money."».

The mainstream media has zero credibility, especially on immigration. And that, Dear H4T, basically distinguishes your posting style from mine:
I supply links, quotes and reasoning....
You supply a one-line statement that you found kicking around somewhere between your ears, which might sound convincing in the before-mentioned cranial echo-chamber, but sadly, has the sustainability of an egg salad made in 1870 during a heatwave and the credibility of postcard from the Moon.
Cheers Hughmac

Yeah, I know, Mozzie - you couldn't give a s**t what drives people to flee countries, cuz you're only interested in hate websites, right?
A superb example of "virtue signalling" as practiced by all liberals, everywhere, from Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park to the editorial pages of the New York Times. ..."I care more about people than you do, therefore I am a much better person than you are." ...
Ah, ...no.
You are being silly here, not to mention being thoroughly illogical. You care, do you? About people, ..refugee's? Your screwball, 'far' left-wing government in Spain is "signalling" to any and all human traffickers, that the light is being left-on in Spain for your imminent arrival. Come one, come all. Charge em 25K a head and pack the caravans. As a result of your silliness, people are gonna die en route, by the hundreds of thousands. But now, ...now, they're gonna come by the millions. All of Africa will pitch a tent city in Madrid and Barcelona.
Why? Liberals don't know how the world works, or what economic plans will generate wealth and pull them out of poverty. They were never taught the subject. Marxism never worked anywhere, any place. Plus, you can't have socialism without a necessary phase of long-term capitalism to back it up. By definition, liberals have never figured that out, nor have you. I had to chuckle when in some other post you noted 19th century European colonization as being the primary reason for the catastrophe that is now Africa. That's rubbish, liberal garbldeguok. Crappola. Liberals just don't understand capitalism, or the fundamentals behind it necessary for success. I always point to 1949 Hong Kong as a perfect example. Dirt poor, impoverished beyond belief after the Mao and Chiank Kai Shek bloodbath. All's they had was the British legal structure to start their economic journey. Fair courts. Basic law and order. Eliminate a high percentage of corruption. Certainty of punishment when convicted of crimes. Simple stuff. Basic economics 101. The Chinese in Hong Kong, ....did the rest, ...themselves.
So, now the loon liberals/socialists/commies are 'virtue signalling' that they care more about people than 'we' do.
Nonsense....!

Cheers Hughmac I MOST CERTAINLY did address what you wrote, ...highlighted it, and put it at the top of my page!
When one reads that fascinating piece you wrote, one cannot comment on EVERYTHING which was written. One can pick and choose what one felt was the central focus/thought of the given comment. And, ....I did!
However, I'll add a few more comments on your quotes of nefarious 'far' right-wing web pages. Basically what you're doing is "smearing" every right-wing web page as being "biased" and therefore not worthy of comment. Sure, they 'spin' news stories, and they place some quotes out of context, but so does, ...wait for it, ..... , ...the BBC. I make THAT argument ALL the time, as you well know. Liberals have made the art of "spinning news stories" into a science. The right wing may do it as well, but liberals are the masters. However, I try to point to the specifics in a given news story, especially one written by the BBC, rather than condemn 'everything' that they do. Specifics, that's what's important here.
Now, I happen to like Voice of Europe. They bring a lot of interesting news stories that outfits like, oh, say, the BBC, ...avoids. They have an agenda. Fine and dandy. Telesur also has an agenda, but I haven't read your protestations as to their being quoted on these pages by you-know-who.
OK, here's a funny thing that you wrote, ...er, at least I chuckled over it.
- Quote:
-
"Those of the "Aquarius" are quickly recognized because they are all equally dressed, with the emergency kit that Red Cross gave them as soon as they got off the boat: new black tracksuits and sneakers with very wide white soles. Receive this kit and eat a "halal" menu"
The last thing that they wanted was to be immediately recognised as illegal immigrants while travelling across Spain and into Europe.
So, like, these ya-hoo's come off the boat in Spain and ditched "expensive" clothing given to them by the Red Cross because they didn't want to be "recognized" as illegal immigrants. ... Right.
But, that's not what's important. What's important is that they broke the law, or what's left of it in Europe today. You don't seem to care about this minor detail in the story, ....and that, my old friend, is the difference between you and me. I am all for legal "immigration" to European countries. (NOT migration, ...and we both know the differences) You don't care how they came, nor do you care if any laws were broken. Immigrants must conform to European customs and laws. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet, and I've met them, are some of the Muslim shopkeepers in London. British to the core. There are a lot of them from the former British colonies, from ALL over...and God bless most of em. Even Tiny Tim would agree. ... They fit right into British society. They are immigrants, not migrants. The same in Germany. There are many lovely Turkish-descent "Germans" living in Germany today. I am always startled by seeing a Turkish face in a German city, who suddenly addresses me in a "fluent" German. Good for them! They, the Turks, came to Germany in the late 60's and early 70's during the Wirtschaftswunder. Immigrants, not migrants. (Note the difference, please.)
But, what's happening today is a catastrophe. In very short years it will bring about violence and bloodshed. Hate. Rioting. We want what YOU have! Religious violence. More and more people will be living in gated communities with barbed wire and camera's. Read: South Africa.
And, the women of Europe in 10, 20, 30 years? I can't even contemplate what's coming.....

OK, you quote the hard-right website, voiceofeurope, which in turn cites casoaislado.com, who in turn quote from La Razon, which is a mainstream source. As you can imagine some of the Voiceofeurope states differed "strangely" from the La Razón article. Now we all know that voiceofeurope and Breitbart are nutty favourites of the US right wing, but let's take a look at the "middleman;" namely casoaislado.com "There are websites such as "casoaislado.com" and "diarioespana.com", which can not be considered as means of communication, which with less than two years of existence have managed to have millions of readers. Basically they are excellent at viralizing content on the Internet, in fact, they are defined in their web page. These media build news with a very striking headline and with elements that are often false but that attract the attention of an important mass of people. Then, as I said, they are very good at viralizing the content and capturing the attention of many people, for this reason they always touch xenophobic, racist, homophobic, ..."http://alumnitime.deusto.es/2018/02/08/fake-news-donde-esta-la-verdad/Hell, why not see what one of the most prestiges Spanish dailies has to say on casoaislado.com"But this business model has created a perverse incentive: making money off disinformation.
In January, several companies pulled their ads from Mediterráneo digital after this website wondered in an article “why are feminists uglier than regular women.” Caso Aislado works much like the outlets that have popularized the Northern League in Italy, with headlines that exaggerate the problems derived from immigration, such as “Illegal immigrants use fake IDs to obtain organ donations.”https://elpais.com/elpais/2018/05/24/inenglish/1527147309_000141.htmlWhich brings us onto La Razon, the Spanish mainstream news site. This Spanish, right-wing newspaper is run by Paco Marhuenda, who often appears on TV debates and is a respected journalist.
Here's a google translation of a relevant paragraphs They are not incarcerated and, therefore, can go outside. Yesterday, many people went around this "base camp" to eat, buy tobacco, go for a walk and, some, to flee to another city or country. Probably never come back to Cheste again. Many took advantage of this first outing to call their acquaintances in Spain or "contacts" that perhaps the mafias they had gone through to continue their journey. Since they arrived in Valencia, they obtained a 45-day permit to travel throughout the Schengen territory; Now, Casoaislado.com changes that to: "The vast majority has taken advantage of to leave Valencia and contact with acquaintances or even with the mafias that will be taken to their final destinations."
You will notice that it is now "the vast majority" and the "Perhaps" concerning contacting the mafia has been converted into a certainty. Now, the following from La Razon (which is the original source) probably explains why the immigrants that disappeared ditched their Red-Cross clothing: "Those of the "Aquarius" are quickly recognized because they are all equally dressed, with the emergency kit that Red Cross gave them as soon as they got off the boat: new black tracksuits and sneakers with very wide white soles. Receive this kit and eat a "halal" menu"The last thing that they wanted was to be immediately recognised as illegal immigrants while travelling across Spain and into Europe. So lets hear a testimony from one of the immigrants, as published by La Razon: "Sami Benosmone, 28 years old, when stepping on land, at last. " Yeah, I know, Mozzie - you couldn't give a s**t what drives people to flee countries, cuz you're only interested in hate websites, right? But, let's hear a little more testimony from La Razon (information that wasn't quoted by your hate buddies over on voiceofamerica and casoaislado."«Every day I heard shots, my head became ill, I had to leave». "When we went up we were relieved but after a while Italy would not let us in and that was going to be our destiny, according to the mafia to whom he gave his money."».Cheers Hughmac
The mainstream media has zero credibility, especially on immigration.
And that, Dear H4T, basically distinguishes your posting style from mine: I supply links, quotes and reasoning.... You supply a one-line statement that you found kicking around somewhere between your ears, which might sound convincing in the before-mentioned cranial echo-chamber, but sadly, has the sustainability of an egg salad made in 1870 during a heatwave and the credibility of postcard from the Moon. There you see; sad proof that you're not actually communicating coherently. Note the underlined & bolded phrase: "other than my slight to your good self"
So what did you respond? Hot capital letters claiming that you had addressed the points I raised... repeating precisely my "slight to your good self"
Now, we both know that you do understand the meanting of "other than" so I can only assume that you didn't pick up what I had written, not through an inability to comprehend, but to a dreadful lack of "bothering to read."
To avoid making unneccessarily long posts with dreary quoting, I shall, with your permission, attend to your other comments in separate posts.

Actually, I don't, but then again, you aren't paying attention, as mentioned in my last post.
I quoted from the Spanish right-wing daily, La Razón, whose Chief Ed I personally consider a tosser, having put up with his "insalubrious character" watching him on hundreds of TV political debates. It's the person who grips my crap, not his right-wing stance, which I happen to agree with in all but his blind support for the corrupt Partido Popular.
Nor did I criticise your choice of populist websites without backing my observation with quotes from trustworthy sources. Breitbart and Voiceofamerica only exist to make money through advertising with deliberately misleading headlines and lamentable accuracy - they know that it will draw in the populist reader by the herd, thus improving their income through Google-related advertising: if you have hundreds of thousands of hits, you can charge a lot more, thanks to your site statistics, for online advertising.
There are two ways of making disproportionate advertising revenues for webpages: porn and populist headlines.
Of course you like voiceofamerica; if you're from India, you like curry, after all.

If I drink any more high caffeine coffee, in response to your numerous posts, my hands will start to shake, I'll get even more coffee stains on the desk that only bleach can remove and my espresso machine will go 'kaput' from all of the heat.
My choice? ....B
Other than that, why are they being allowed to stay, to eventually wander over the Pyrenees to France, in the first place? Isn't there, like, laws against that sort of thing? What gives them the right? They made it safely to European soil, therefore all is hunky-dorey? The logical progression here is if this is OK by you, half the citizens of Lagos, Monrovia, Accra, Maputo and Nairobi should also be allowed to come. Right?
But, here's what we're gonna do to solve this problem! You and I will find a publisher somewhere in Spain, and I'm sure that you have the contacts here, to print 5.8 million copies of Frederick Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom," Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations," and Adam Clayton's, "Hong Kong since 1945: An Economic and Social History (2003)." Got it? With me? For every illegal migrant who crosses the Spanish border we give them these 3 books, and a set of new clothes from the Red Cross, ... , and send them back to whereever they came from, newly inspired and willing to change the course of their own countries for the better!
Is that a great idea, or what?

So, like, these ya-hoo's come off the boat in Spain and ditched "expensive" clothing given to them by the Red Cross because they didn't want to be "recognized" as illegal immigrants. ... Right.
You find that amusing, evidently. So, Mozzie, why do you suppose that they discarded standard, red-cross immigrant clothing? A) Was it to deliver an evil terrorist blow against the Western garment industry? B) They didn't like it because they were comfortable clothes and being from the 3rd World they preferred ill-fitting and uncomfortable attire? C) Moving across Spain, it immedately marked them down as illegal immigrants rather than just immigrants? Cheers Hughmac
Look! Have mercy! I can only gulp-down one cup of coffee in the morning! If I drink any more high caffeine coffee, in response to your numerous posts, my hands will start to shake, I'll get even more coffee stains on the desk that only bleach can remove and my espresso machine will go 'kaput' from all of the heat. My choice? ....B Other than that, why are they being allowed to stay, to eventually wander over the Pyrenees to France, in the first place? Mozart Mozzie, first of all I suspect that you are labouring under a misconception about me. I am not in favour uncontrolled immigration.
Allow me to expound on this.
While I commend the Spanish PM's decision go to the aid of the stricken ship, thus highlighting a seemingly unsolvable problem, those 600 immigrants should not have been allowed to wander off.
Now, there are two points to be taken into account: one, the Spanish immigrant, holding centres (where each case is judged and the immigrant either returned or permitted to stay) are all, and I mean all, overwhelmed.
Therefore the Socialist Government was more than happy to let them "move on" and head for France after making its case, which leads to the 2nd point: the frontier countries (Spain, Italy, Greece) are the ones being overwhelmed but this is a European problem, not one belonging solely to the frontier countries. If Germany doesn't want them all heading there, they must put up the funds and manpower to help control the southern border.
Now, I have set out what must be done in a previous post, but I will do it again.
1) European naval groups patrolling North African waters to intercept immigrant boats and to return them to Libya where there will be immigrant holding centres under European military control. Snag: any Western base will be a magnet for the likes of ISIS.
2) All NGOs ships should be prohibited from operating in African waters - any found doing so should be impounded.
3) Military strikes, both air strikes and SpecOp ones should be carried out on mafia personnel & infrastructure on Libyan soil. There will be collateral damage, but Europe is just going to have to suck it up.
4) The way the mafia works is that the person at the helm of an immigrant zodiac is not a mafia member, but just an immigrant who, in exchange, gets a free trip - everybody else on the zodiac pays around 2,000 euros. Therefore, these "helm volunteers" should know that they will be imprisoned in a Moroccan prison for 15 years when caught. Europe picks up the jail-bill, but the "helmsman" knows that he will not be doing time in the comfort of a European prison.
5) Owing to Europe's ageing population, by 2060 society will be unmanageable and unviable. Therefore, it needs a certain level of immigration. But - and this i important - if you come to Europe, you become European and you leave your religion, customs and alien ideology behind. No mosque, no Muslim headgear - zero concession. And whilst we're about it, we shut down all the churches and synagogues, too - religion is a disease that needs to be eradicated in public life. At home, if you want to worship an invisible people in your head, fine, but, keep it at home.
Now, if the above sounds "liberal-cum-commie" then you are crazier than I thought
So, when I tell you that they dumped their clothing so as not to stick out as "illegal immigrants", it is not a die-hard-limp-wristed excuse, but what really happened.
So when I tell you that it is an obligation under Maritime Law to offer assistance to a ship in distress on the high seas, which was clearly the case as far as Aquarius goes, it is a fact.
Now, the listed points above are what I consider to be the solution - however, I doubt that they will come about. Yes, there will be reinforced naval patrols and yes there will be strikes against the mafia, but immigrant holding centres run by Nato or a pan-European military force on Libyan soil, won't happen, because they will soon turn into an Al Graib, riddled with corruption and mistreatment: soldiers are not jailers and should not be used as such.
It is more likely that these immigrant holding centres will be set up on European soil, funded by the EU and run by the military with NGO assistance. Economic immigrants will be returned and a small percentage of refugees will be allowed to take up European citizenship, but politicians don't have the balls to impose no Mosques, Muslim clothes or cultural concession of any kind.
Unless politicians start to take a hard stance along these lines, the continent will be plunged straight back into the 1930's and another world conflict.
Cheers Hughmac
PS: H4T; we both know that you are not capable of contributing in a non-conflictive manner, so why not save me the bother of having to stomp all over one of your obnoxious observations.

A falling population will lead to higher wages, lower real estate costs, and less traffic. This can already be seen in the paradise known as Japan.
Christianity, as demonstrated in magnificent cathedrals and cherished artwork, is an invaluable part of the Occident's cultural heritage. By calling for its destruction, you have revealed yourself to be on the same level as ISIS when it wrecked thousand-year-old churches and Roman ruins.

By calling for its destruction, you have revealed yourself to be on the same level as ISIS when it wrecked thousand-year-old churches and Roman ruins. *Sigh!*
Wrestling with reality, you have managed to make two erroneous & ridiculous statements in a text more meagre in breadth than a twitter post.
Firstly, what the West faces is an ageing population - it's not about size. An active population requires less expenditure than a dependent one.
Your besotted fixation with Japan has so eaten out your capacity to reason that you appear to equate the population shift caused by low child birth and increase longevity with the outcome of the Black Death, which indeed provided a housing glut and increased wealth amongst survivors.
The difference is that the 14th-Century survivors were the young and the fit whereas the population imbalance that we face will leave us with the aged and infirm.
Which brings us to your second flatulent uttering; i.e., the ISIS. If anybody on these boards could be likened to this organisation by mindset values, it is you; i.e. intolerance and a feverish belief in destroying all that does not comply with your desired dystopia which you confuse with a utopia.
And besides, how does your surprising exaltation of Christianity fit in with your slavish worship of Japan; a completely foreign and invasive religion there, representing a mere 0.7% slither between Shinto (54%) and Buddhism (51%)?
Your twisted-dwalf mentality immediately turns my abolishment of religion into the destruction of buildings - telling. Houses of worship should be put to social use as museums, for instance.
Such is your penchant for confrontation and putrid posts that instead of receiving my statement about making no concessions to immigrant culture and religion with approval, you liken me to a fanatical Islamist.
Lastly, I would recommend that Perspectives installs a Stupidity Metre on posts but you'd only overload it.
Cheers Hughmac

It sounds reasonable, ....but where are the "Europeans" gonna get the backbone to do, as noted above, the minimum? It may already too late. Furthermore, you should have stated that all "illegal migrants" shall be deported immediately forthwith, even if that number reaches 5 or 6 million.
More later, ....coffee! ....coffee!

Mozart Where are the Europeans going to get the backbone? From the same store when the Americans are going to have to find their brains, I imagine. Dearths are dearths, after all.
No, Mozzie, I shouldn't have stated anything other than what I actually did, which is why it is called an opinion, otherwise I could demand that you should have stated that ships in peril should not be left to their own fate, which I don't - there is a limit to the common sense that you can reasonably expect from an American after only one cup of coffee.
Lastly, some illegal immigrants are war refugees, which is why I stated what I did.
You know the level of hypocrisy from the former-colonial cousins is breath taking! Why? Because I seem to remember the leniency showered upon Cuban illegal immigrants on your shore - one step on dry land and you had the right to abide in the USA, or something of equal Mickey-Mouse consistency.
Maybe it was because the USA did not suffer WW2 on its own turf that Americans such little consideration for war refugees (unless we're talking about Cubans economic immigrants, of course).
Both of the countries in which we reside share harrowing tales of refugee columns. During the Spanish Civil war, hundreds of thousands of refugees left Spain and were received with generosity by Mexico and countries in Central & South American. Republican children were given homes in France, Britain, etc.
One British cargo ship captain, (ole sus huevos) left all his cargo in Alicante that he was supposed to take to Britain to fill instead his holds and every deck with refugees fleeing Franco advancing columns.
Too soon, here in Spain, do we forget what it is to be a war refugee.
Cheers Hughmac
