Trump’s trade war with China is finally here — and it won’t be pretty, analysts say

BEIJING — Some said the day would never come, that it was all a bluff. But as the Independence Day fireworks cool in Washington, the eve of the trade war has arrived in China’s capital, where government leaders keep reminding people: We did not start this, but we will fight back.

The fact we have got off our knees and pulled up our pants is a start. There may be a period of adjustment for US factories to pick up the slack but that's OK. China will cave or face the consequences. Only a fool thinks China holds the upper hand. China's theft of intellectual rights alone is in excess of 1 TRILLION dollars. The American left is siding with offshoring jobs and cheap imports, Trump is fighting for American workers. Take your pick...

Trump's trade war is basically an unnecessary tax on the American people. We need China as an ally to help with North Korean negotiations - as if Trump can do it alone.

The looming trade war will also hurt Trump's Congressional supporters, mid-west supporters, and southern supporters the most - in large part, that's exactly what other nations are intending to do punish those who supported and voted for him.

Considering the mid-terms are five months away and a new Supreme Court nomination will be made early next week, this is an extraordinarily dangerous and likely very costly position for the GOP to take.

Seems to me, the last thing the GOP needs is a self-created trade war with other industrialized nations if they hope to seat a new Justice and maintain control of Congress.

Oh well, you get what you vote for.

Russia can produce its own cheap crap. They don't need China.
Japan has no use for cheap crap. It's goods are far superior than cheap Chinese made crap.
Vietnam can produce its cheap crap.Besides, China cannot sustain its economy by relying on Vietnam.

If you buy a Lada, that is the end of that friendship.....The USA can only win a trade war with China....They sell $400 billion a year more goods to the USA than they buy from the USA............ :oyvey:

I'll bet Trump and Ivanka don't divest from their lucrative Chinese interests, which is raking in millions, talk about a conflict of interest.

Hopefully, Mueller is looking at this also.

What about Kushner's real estate deal a few months back with the Chinese for $2.85 billion, where he personally profited $400 million simply for being Trumps son in law. Oh, but that's okay, he's a businessman and he means well. Hopefully, Mueller is looking at that also, especially considering Jared's father is a felon - like father like son.
