Good for you Mister President, good for you. Trump said he would do something about the NATO problem during his campaign so this is another promise kept.

We're supposed to be protecting swimming in bucks Germany and they're making deals with Russia behind our backs. All these NATO members ripping us off and taking our tax dollars.

I still think we should pull out because I know we are actually supporting the European Union with our tax dollars.

Yeah, except he's lying his ass off. Everyone in NATO has been steadily increasing their commitment, and the 2% threshold he's touting was first agreed to in 2006 by W.

Go ahead and keep licking him philly. You know he loves it.

I'm sure if you ask around, about 95 % of Europeans would love to see all the US military bases shut down. They're more worried about American foreign policy than anyone else's, including China, Iran and Russia.

So the 2% was agreed to in 2006 and well over the majority of countries have not met the threshold as agreed, while (in your words) "steadily increasing their commitment" over the last 12 years????

Wilmy...that has to be one of the dumbest things ever written on this site ......

Their agreed upon commitment is 2%....you are either honoring your agreement...or you're not....

Only in the liberal political world does it take 12 years to honor what you agreed to and need to be dragged kicking and screaming to get you to do it....

And then in your mind Trump is the bad guy for making you honor your word...

:oyvey:

Even the sane liberals are going mental due to TDS....

Trump talks like the EU owes us money. They don't. There will be no check written to our account. We won't be collecting on "billions in arrears" because there aren't any. Trump is delusional on that point.

Are we? Why don't you show us the numbers that prove we are?

Yes, we spend 3.6% of GDP. Yes, our defense spending vastly surpasses that of any of the other individual NATO allies, basically because we have a vastly larger GDP and a population of 300 million, while most EU countries have populations and GDPs that a comparable to individual U.S. states.

But, do we pay 70% of the costs of NATO? Which is any entirely different question. How much are we spending specifically on NATO and how does that compare to what the other members spend?

Now that you mention it, your posting the US's and other NATO nations percentage of GDP spent on defense pretending it's proof that we spend way more on NATO won't get you into any Mensa meetings either. Pot, meet kettle.

You can't be serious because the wealthy euro countries would take a big hit with their own GDP's.

Germany was outraged when Bush 43 reduced the troop commitment there.

Trump is finally telling these euros to put up or wave bye to American involvement which means that NATO would flop right on it's face.
