Friendly PSA VOTING - Voting makes you complicit in all of their crimes - Democracy is non-negotiable, especially if you are a minority - It's statistically meaningless. - The system is potentially rigged anyway - Illusion of choice: candidates overlap on 95% of the issues (all pro-taxation, pro-public schooling, pro-military, etc.) - There is no enforceable contract that holds politicians accountable to their campaign promises - It's an explicit statement that you want to rob your neighbor via a proxy - It lends credibility to a morally bankrupt system - It's a useless religious ritual- it makes people think they are doing something instead of actually doing something. |

No. Voting gives people the illusion of control. It's a useful pressure release valve. We get to do our exercise for the press but George Soros remains in control. |

So what you are saying is that I would get more benefit going to the gym, then spending time voting. I would agree with that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_paradox |

Voting can be a means to an end, so I have to disagree with estonianman here. |

AI, I am drafting up a petition to have George Soros banned from the United States should Trump win. If for any reason, vote for that and then when he's in office, sign my petition. |

For the individual though - the effort put into researching a candidate, campaigning then voting has very little return on investment. |

Putting your whole heart and soul and pinning your hopes and dreams on a candidate is a waste of time, sure. But finding the guy or gal you see as the least dangerous to the furtherance of libertarian goals and taking the time to vote for them isn't a waste of time. Not voting is kind of stupid at this point in time. Dude I am against democracy fully, but things don't just remain the same no matter who gets in. Whether Donald gets in or Hillary gets in, things will change. I see Donald as a change in the right direction as far as the future of libertarianism is concerned, so I'm going with Trump this time. Plus he makes liberals quake in fear. You and I live under a weaponized governmental system of mob rule, it's time to play chess if you're serious about libertarian goals, in my opinion. The LP is a libertine leftist joke of a party. Gotta take what we can get. |

What do you know of his tax proposals? Have you actually read them directly from the Trump campaign? |

And remember, I'm not saying you should be all rah-rah yay Dear Leader(except to piss the left off). But Trump is a much better choice for evil Overlord than Hillary or Berntard. He will give us more economic freedom than she will, he will shit on the establishment, crush cultural Marxism a.k.a political correctness. So I will take Emperor Trump since he is not a complete social and economic authoritarian like Hillary or Mr. Maggoo-berg. That's just my opinion. We can agree to disagree. You're not a bad guy for sticking to your principles. |

I actually have - they are a step in the right direction. So is his healthcare plan - which is to have government back the feck off. and I am not saying the voting is always a waste, just that it is a waste 95% of the time. The poor would get a significant tax break if Trump was able to get his tax policy in action. Still - it might not be a net benefit. If the FED decides to pummel the economy theoretically the cost of living increase could offset the tax benefit. Edited by estonianman, Mar 23 2016, 02:16 PM.
