The first dragon launch since one blew just after main engine cut off last year will happen shortly. Good luck to spaceX.

They will evidently also try an experimental landing of the first stage.

Congratulations SpaceX on a flawless launch of Dragon. To follow that up with the amazing recovery of the first stage on a platform floating in the middle of the ocean is outstanding.

My father worked all of the Apollo missions and the last part of Gemini.

He was one of the guys trying to get up there and get that idiotic non-explosion bolt door off of Apollo 1 during the fire. Damned bean counters are directly responsible for the deaths of those men. Of course that was also the last heavy oxygen ground test we ever did because it was kind of stupid to do that also in hind sight.

I was born there, I got into engineering and automated systems control because of it. So yeah, I am a bit of a "space head"

That's right, you told me about your Dad.

Amazing.

Hope you have some souvenirs of the old days that only insiders got.

I would kill to stand in the old Mission Control Room in Houston. Like sacred ground.

Oh there was cheering in the old days, just not as much of it in mission control. Frankly, I like SpaceX's way better. Heck, I wrote an op-ed on the no reply board back when they got the first Dragon off the ground in 2010. It is the one topic I made a point of saving from the cache of the old site for me. Unfortunately I had updated it a couple times and the internet cache site did not have the version that had been updated as spaceX progressed. Just the original.

It is pretty cool seeing these guys progress.

I remember those days. I was glued to that Black and White image - completely captivated, imagination roaring and deciding want I wanted to be when I grew up.

Robert, the SpaceX rockets and engines are US designed and built and are not in any way derived from Russian parts.

SpaceX will soon be one of the contractors launching astronauts for NASA for LEO missions. Boeing is the other and the lift rocket they are planning on using will also be US designed and built based on work at BlueOrigin and the BE-4 engine. In addition Boeing and Lockheed are looking into the possibility of using SpaceX Merlin engines as a replacement for some of their Russian built engines.

So, while I agree the use of the Russians was shameful, we are moving forewarn and SpaceX is one of the primary companies doing that.

ROTFLMAO.

Evidently Mr. Must tweeted this and then deleted his tweet after the landing. He should have kept it up, I love it.

Warning the soundtrack contains some "strong language" but it is absolutely worth it.

Watched it earlier today. A magnificent accomplishment. It's amazing what can happen when you build the machinery in-house without relying on hundreds of the lowest bidders.
Wolf Braun had died a fiery death and the Archangel emerged.

Hey, guys.

Unlike Elon Musk' Tesla, his privately held Space X actually makes money...If he does an IPO, he will make another fortune off of the irrational exuberance of retail investors.......
