Looks like Scott and Julie Brusaw have received almost 2 million dollars from the government for dead on arrival product.

In case anyone forgot:

The Dutch just installed some solar powered bike ways which produce about 1000 euro a month in electricity - while costing over 3 million euro to install.

Leftist math leaves me feeling the bern

Imagine where we would be if every advancement demanded profit up front.

Or where we wouldn't be.

In 1894, Wilbur and Orville were caught up in the bicycling craze that swept the nation. To augment the income from their printing trade, they began repairing and selling bicycles. This soon grew into a full-time business, and in 1896 they began to manufacture their own bikes. The Wright Cycle Company returned a handsome profit

Capitalism freed them up to soar with the eagles...let freedom ring.......................

Airplanes and bikes don't mix in this example.

You either demand profit before advancement and cancel those advancements because they are not instantly profitable or you recognize that advancements are not just about profit.

One advances society. One does not. Choose.

They did not pre-sell their plane.

It cost them money to make the attempts that they did.

By your standards they would never have created the Wright Flyer that succeeded.

But you are against the Dutch putting money into R&D unless it is instantly profitable.

What tangent? This is what precipitated this entire discourse.

"The Dutch just installed some solar powered bike ways which produce about 1000 euro a month in electricity - while costing over 3 million euro to install."

My response to Estonianman was what prompted your string of replies.

Ok fair enough...you've been downgraded to mid thread switch tangent man if it makes you feel better....or perhaps leap to far end of the pendulum conclusions man...everything with libs has to be an extreme...Orville and Wilbur were successful capitalists which allowed them the luxury to pursue their passion....just like it frees me up to give to charity...or invest in things I think will pay dividends in the future...like solar roads...or not...or better yet lets get the gov't to borrow money from my grankids to do it for us...

lol coast to coast is comparing the wright brothers to a 250 year ROI on something that would have been much cheaper built on the side of the road.

Christ - its like these folks need a claritan every time math and logic is brought into the discussion
