All those guys sitting on their thumbs waiting for a contract to build highways, on-ramps, bridges, renovations? Tens of thousands of blue collar workers depending on government contracts? |

The market is decentralized - not a common institution like government. So yeah - sometimes so done In the marketplace sells a poisoned donut, the market deals with it. The govenrnemt poisons someone, and they are protected by the courts. |

Who pays for the NORAD in the anarchy? if there is demand, people pay. Roads can easily be funded by tolls and commercial leases along the road. Edited by estonianman, Apr 12 2016, 05:58 PM.

Great Northern Railway The Great Northern was the only privately funded — and successfully built — transcontinental railroad in U.S. history. No federal land grants were used during its construction, unlike all other transcontinental railroads. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Northern_Railway_(U.S.) |

You realize that the New Deal or the 19th Century infrastructure projects required one to provide an honest day's work for an honest day's pay and are in no way comparable to the the current progressive policies which pay unemployable uneducated women to pop out illegitimate children? |

Ahem. I-40 goes from Wilmington, NC in the east to Barstow, CA in the west. 2,554 miles in all. It's the single longest stretch of highway in the United States. ![]() |

Are you sure that's continuous there Wilmy, I used to have to take 40 when I was stationed at Lejeuene to go home to the Boundary, and I would have sworn I had to make the connection up at Raleigh-Durham? Then again it's been over 20 years...I could have just shot my foot off here, as well as the ending point, would have sworn it went just to Albaquerque? Man, teach me to not go off of memory won't it. |

Yes, I'm sure. The section from Raleigh to Wilmington was completed only a couple years before I got to NC in 1994. But I think it's always gone to Barstow, but maybe not. |
