http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2016/04/19/gay-pastor-suing-whole-foods-after-finding-homophobic-slur-on-cake-order/?intcmp=hpff A Texas pastor is suing Whole Foods after receiving a cake decorated with an anti-gay slur he says a bakery worker added to his order. Jordan Brown, an openly gay pastor who preaches at the non-denominational Church of Open Doors, ordered a cake from the chain’s flagship location in Austin, Texas on April 14 for a member of his congregation, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Travis County court. In the store's bakery section, Brown says he pointed to a blank, pre-frosted cake with blue icing and asked the Whole Foods employee to write “Love Wins.” The pastor paid for the cake and left the store. But it was not until he was loading it into his car that he noticed something extra scrawled on his order. |

Just read about this. Looks like a hoax. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/04/fake-hate-gay-pastor-said-whole-foods-gave-fag-wedding-cake-whole-foods-said-gay-worker-packaged-cake/ The lettering in the slur has two passes while the rest of the cake has one. And turns out the cake was prepared by a "member of the LGBTQ community." lol Edited by Dr. B, Apr 19 2016, 11:00 AM.

So the store is standing by the employees who say that they did not write this. The store claims that the bakery employee is a member of the LGBT community. In the video, the box does look sealed still. This is probably going to come down to video evidence in the store and forensic evidence on the cake box. If there is video in the store of him checking out where the box can be seen then it may prove whether not the slur was on the cake after he got it. If the video shows the slur then obviously it proves his case. Now, it is possible to take the seal off of a cake box and replace it without damaging it so that is where forensics come into play. Whole foods is a pretty "hug a tree", touchy feely kind of place. I find it a little hard to believe that they would take a hard line on this if they did not have something to support their position other than the word of their employee but who knows. There is part of me that wants to believe the guy here but then there is the part of me who is in his mid 40's and has raised 6 kids. Never, not once, have I bought a cake for any event (birthday, graduation, baby shower, etc) where I did not check to make sure they got the message on the cake correct. When you ask someone to write on a cake for you the very first thing you do when handed the cake after they write on it is look at the words to make sure they are correct. So the part of me that has quite literally bought over 100 of these cakes over the years wants to call shenanigans. Time will tell. |

Well, it is rather convenient that he chose not to leave the cake sealed in it's box as evidence. Now there is no way to forensically prove or disprove if the box was opened. |

The slur was also right in the middle of the clear viewing window of the box. How did he not see that? |

Whole Foods to take legal action against pastor who claimed cake had homophobic slur http://www.cbsnews.com/news/whole-foods-to-take-legal-action-against-pastor-who-claimed-cake-had-lgbt-slur/ A Texas pastor who claimed a cake he bought from Whole Foods in Austin had a homophobic slur written on it is now facing legal action of his own from the supermarket giant. The attorneys for Pastor Jordan Brown said he ordered a cake from a Whole Foods store with the personalized message "Love Wins," but when he received it, the cake said "Love Wins F**." But Whole Foods is disputing his claim. They say his accusations are fraudulent, and they intend to take legal action against Brown and his attorney. "Our bakery team member wrote 'Love Wins' at the top of the cake, which was visible to Mr. Brown through the clear portion of the packaging," Whole Foods said in a statement. "That's exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Whole Foods Market has a strict policy that prohibits team members from accepting or designing bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive." Whole Foods also released the security footage of Brown checking out of the store, they say further backing their position. "Mr. Brown admits that he was in sole possession and control of the cake until he posted his video, which showed the UPC label on the bottom and side of the box," the statement read. "After reviewing our security footage of Mr. Brown, it's clear that the UPC label was in fact on top of the cake box, not on the side of the package." |

Yep, the Mr. Brown is probably gonna be needing to move to a new town after he and his lawyers get their clocks cleaned in court and are forced to pay the legal fees for Whole Foods.

If it is a fake, and I don't rule out the possibility, they did an exceptionally good job of matching the color of the lettering in "Love Wins" with the color of the slur. It's typically pretty hard to match frosting coloring that closely without it coming from the same batch of frosting. Edited by Opinionated, Apr 19 2016, 05:17 PM.

Another Whole Foods accused of putting a hateful three-letter slur that starts with “G” on a cake (excerpt) A San Francisco bay area resident is accusing the bakery staff at the local Whole Foods of adding an “extremely offensive” three-letter slur that starts with a “G” to a cake custom cake ordered at the store. The cake in question was commissioned to say “Love Wins” at the top, but upon receipt of the cake Gianny Limpschtick claims that someone at the Whole Foods wrote “GOP” below.

Texas pastor who accused Whole Foods of gay slur on cake drops suit, apologizes http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/texas-pastor-who-accused-whole-foods-of-gay-slur-on-cake-drops-suit-apologizes/ar-BBt74QB?ocid=spartandhp Openly gay pastor Jordan Brown said in April that he requested a cake from Whole Foods with the phrase “Love Wins” written on it, but when he received his cake there was a homophobic remark added. Brown made the accusation in an Internet video and launched a lawsuit shortly thereafter. But alert viewers quickly pointed out that the icing style used to write “Love Wins” and the gay slur appeared to differ, and Whole Foods released surveillance video showing the cake being purchased with only “Love Wins” in writing. “I want to apologize to Whole Foods and its team members for questioning the company’s commitment to its values, and especially the baker associate who I understand was put in a terrible position because of my actions,” Brown said in a statement. “I apologize to the LGBT community for diverting attention from real issues. I also want to apologize to my partner, my family, my church family, and my attorney.” |
