One SMALL? Portion....thousands of my people died, this isn't like he vetoed a budget, he had the US Army remove over a dozen Southeastern tribes by bayonet..tossing my people from land they had lived on for 3000 years.

But let's go with something you mentioned. The Corrupt central bank...more of a Democracy, not so much, my people did it right...we took the Government to Court, all the way to the USSC, and we won our case. Jackson's infamous remark was, "They have made their ruling, now let them enforce it". Not exactly what I'd call making the country more of a democracy. Afterwards, he did what he wanted to do anyway, which was to take our lands and give them to American settlers. The beginnings of Manifest Destiny....written in the blood of thousands.

As for the Battle of New Orleans, ironically enough, that action killed British troops weeks after the Peace Treaty had been signed.

The man was a drunkard, and by most accounts, a scoundrel. His "good" actions notwithstanding, his "bad" ones are the more heinous.
Yep, I'm not denying the history. Sherman burned Georgia to the ground on his march to the sea. War sucks, it really sucks when you lose and are at the mercy of the victors. It really, really sucks when the General whose men you killed during the war and who still holds something of a grudge over it becomes president.

Here is what I know. Mexico is not getting California and other lands back. The South is not gonna leave the union. Now, extrapolate those knows to the situation with native Americans. They are not gonna get any lands back. They are gonna rise again.

It is time to get over the wars from nearly 200 years ago. Grant is still on money and should stay there Jackson should also but he is already being replaced so I guess you can celebrate that. :unitedstates:
Mexico already has California back . . .
Skipping leg day is the equivalent of a woman having an abortion. You're ashamed of it, and it was probably unnecessary.

Well, isn't that precisely the point? If we are to "get over" history, why would we wish to continue to lionize a guy like Jackson on the $20 bill? Putting someone on money is a compliment, an honor. It is a recognition. I'm not in favor of modern day Cherokee hating modern day whites over what Jackson did. That's "getting over" history. It is where I often part company with politically correct liberals who want to drag ancient grievances into today's disputes with silliness like reparations.

But getting over history doesn't mean you simply pretend it didn't happen and leave up the statues and laurels of the bad guys. Getting over history is forgiveness not forgetfulness. Jackson shouldn't be on money. Columbus shouldn't have a day in his honor. Redskins shouldn't be the name of a football team. That's not because I wish to live in the past but because I wish to escape it and only telling the truth about it will do that. Leaving up tributes to awfulness doesn't help us advance beyond the horrors of history any more than attempts by liberals to live in the past.

Jackson is actually staying on the money evidently, he will be on the back of the $20 instead of the front.

Jackson's treatment of the Native Americans was bad by modern standards but for a man who spent a good portion of his young life fighting Native Americans, having his men killed by them, his methods were not the worst he could have done and his other contributions were significant.

Here is a link about all the changes to the various bills.

People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do them harm.

I still think that American Indians deserve a place on our currency. The entire globe at one time, were just fascinated by American Indians and the Wild West, some of us still are. American Indians would turn our currency instantly into collectors items as well as works of art. Some of our older coinage were just wonderful pieces of art, now it's all pretty mundane. I always loved the Mercury head dime and the Indian head penny.

Unique and Undeniably American!!!

When will leftists demand to remove Jefferson from the $2 bill?
Yes remove him from the $2 bill, and make a $200 bill for him.
We believe only what we want to believe.
