http://money.cnn.com/2016/04/20/news/companies/target-transgender-bathroom-lgbt/ "We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity," the retailer said. "Everyone deserves to feel like they belong." |

Although they can not pee-wee straight away when at checkout-point, and may have to stroll all the way to the loo, it still is a victory for the transgender community. |

As far as I know, the policy does not allow transgenders to make pee wee at the check out...Not yet anyway The point Mm Sail is that the check out lines will be shorter due to the loss of customers.

Loss of customers, because Target caters for human-beings who happen to belong to the transgender-cluster? Let the other cluster of backward customers pee-wee at Evangelical-bakers' Loo instead. Backward-bakeries & Modern-Style Target = Synergy at Work! |

You seem to want to lay this at the feet of evangelicals and relegate them to the inconvenience of finding other facilities. That's pretty drastic don't you think? Edited by ringotuna, Apr 21 2016, 06:57 AM.

May sound drastic, @ Ringo. But, they got no right to discriminate others just because these happen to be transgender, or gay, etc. |

I see your solution to be far more discriminatory than gendered bathroom rules. Not to mention quite intolerant of the opinions of most Americans. |

My wife promised to shoot anyone standing up to pee in the ladies room....She is willing to live and let live as long as transgenders don't invade her safe space.........

Ya see, @ Ringo, my Good Ole Friend Hubby is a Buddhist/Taoist, if & when it suits him. Even he would never dream of discriminating against transgender folks. He may find it eerie, and make jokes in private only. As for me, brought up Roman-Catholic (my dad was RC; my mom was Protestant), I was not brought up discriminating against "others". |

If they look like a man, walk like a man, and talk like a man, but use a stall to deal with their call of nature, why should that be any of my business? |

You are not a woman...Women are from a different planet...Men would probably enjoy a female using their bathroom............

You know, if they look the part and have had surgeries to change themselves then who on earth would know? Nobody cares about the people who have had sex changes or who look like they have. Frankly, nobody would have ever known that those folks went into the "wrong" bathroom and nobody was complaining about it. The problem with a law that states any person can use whatever bathroom they feel is right for them is that it opens the door for this kind of stuff.

I think we already have plenty of laws on the books that make using cameras in bathrooms illegal. And there are plenty of men who try to play peeping tom games with the women's bathroom. If someone sees themselves as a woman, then they're going to dress and act like a woman. If they see themselves as a man, they're going to dress and act like a man. If they dress and act like a man, and claim they see themselves as a woman in order to use the women's bathroom, I can see how that might be a problem. But seriously, how often is that going to happen? Not very, would be my guess. And making a man who dresses and acts like a woman use the men's bathroom is likely to get them an ass kicking, depending on where they are in the country. The illustration is obviously an exaggerated image as all of it's type are. What the real problem is with ordinances that allow people to go into whatever bathroom they choose is the following scenario.
This is why most larger establishments have men's restrooms, women's restrooms, and one or two unisex restrooms. Everybody has a place to go already. Edited by Demagogue, Apr 21 2016, 11:48 AM.

That's a pretty absurd scenario. So, what if the guy dresses up as a woman to do this? What then? And what does being able to charge him for illegally entering a bathroom not of his gender do to prove that he molested the young girl? Look, criminals are going to be criminals. If someone wants to perform a certain crime badly enough, they will find a way. And making life just that much more difficult for transgender people, who will try to follow the law, isn't going to prevent that. |

That kind of stuff is already illegal, rare, and these new laws do nothing to prevent it from happening or growing. They are simply legal vehicles to discriminate against people by adding riders that have nothing to do with the bathroom or what goes on inside it. |
