The idea of Industrie 4.0 first entered the political blood stream in the halls of the Hannover Messe — the world’s largest industrial fair — five years ago. Now smart phone ownership has risen sharply both in the U.S. and the EU. Self-driving 18-wheelers are trundling down German autobahns. And innovations like the industrial Internet, automation, big data, sensor technology, fintech and the “Internet of things” are rewiring our world.

There hasn't been such a notorious meeting of tyrants since Stalin plotted with Mao.

Great, Obama just pissed off Britain and now he wants to piss off the conservatives in Germany.

Anyone against open trade and globalism is going to be pissed-off for the foreseeable future.

barry don't know much about history,
don't know much about ecology,
don't know much about economic books....

But one thing we know is true,
as sure as one and one is two,
Valerie Jarrett will tell the boy what to do.
Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence.

US Prez. Obama in Hanover
The north German city has already been ramping up security in anticipation of the visit, including handing out flyers warning local residents to stay away from their windows and avoid waving as the president's motorcade rides by, so as not to alarm officers.

In the past it was only prohibited to wave a rifle from your window...Obama's approval ratings must be slipping in other countries............... :oyvey

The US and EU are fortunate that they have, in office, people of vision and courage.

Courage? The EU is afraid to take on Russia alone. They are still stuck on this mentality that if we leave Russia alone, Russia will do the same.

Says the guy who often talks about living outside the US.

Nothing is changing significantly. More people are moving, more goods are being traded, and the world's major economies are increasingly linked. That's far too entrenched to be stalled for long by populism.

Watching derpy nationalists rally behind a trust fund billionaire (grandson of an immigrant no less) who himself employs foreign workers and who outsources his own products is indeed good for a chuckle.

You aren't seeing the beginning of a movement. It's the death-throes of the 19th century order.

In increasingly globalized economies, one can ill-afford to catapult oneself offside.
As long as basic human-rights will be observed, as well as decent pay-scales, people may be better off in the end.

Right. Prevent exploitation, but not limit cooperation.

Somehow the Japanese and Koreans have managed just fine.

The only reason Turkey is a NATO member is to keep an eye out on Russia/Soviet Union. NATO needs Turkey to access the Black Sea. If not, NATO would kick Turkey out for opaque human rights issue and jailing political dissidents.
