Let's mandate voting - here's the deal: Since beneficiaries of government funds cannot vote objectively, I propose that these folks be stripped of voting rights. This includes: - EBT recipients - Social Security recipients - Shareholders of companies that receive corporate welfare - Any kind of disability, unemployment benefits - Recipients of any government guaranteed loans, like small business and higher education loans - Government employees, contractors - including military - Recipients of medicare, medicaid or medicare+ programs like prescription drug subsidies or the ACA - Recipients of agricultural subsidies - Recipients of federal research grants, universities etc Go down the list - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_programs_in_the_United_States For everyone else - voting will be mandatory, punished by a tax penalty similar to what is in the ACA. The people that pay into the system get to dictate where their funds are spent, not the recipient. Edited by estonianman, Apr 24 2016, 03:09 PM.

You may have to also exclude from voting: people that send their children to public schools and universities people that drive on public highways people that use mass transit people that drink clean water and breath clean air people that are protected by the police and fire departments Looks like the only people allowed to vote will be "preppers" living off the grid that home school their children... |

I excluded partaking in government monopolies because that is exactly what they are - monopolies. If the government decides to have a monopoly on water and you are thirsty - you have no choice but to drink the government water. That person however - would likely vote to disband the government monopoly. Users of all the services you listed with exception to the "clean air" BS (government is the largest polluter) could vote for an option that excludes government - and often do. Where-as a person that receives a monetary benefit from the government will never vote objectively. A government employee will always vote for bigger government and so on. |

By all means though - if you want to make the point that no-one that benefits from government can vote objectively - then I think you just made my point in this thread.

Entire segments of society cannot be excluded from voting. Voting doesn't work that way. |

Perhaps an incentive in this system to get off government welfare is that you can be allowed to partake in the voting process. People that receive government benefits will always vote for more benefits. People that work for government will vote to fund thier jobs - not matter how useless it is. You cannot have an objective system as long as this takes place. |

Here's a deal.. Airlift folks like Estonianman to the Yukon wilderness and let them survive without contact with the rest of civilization for the rest of their lives. The rest of us can live happily ever after without hearing their incessant whine and phallic sword-swinging about gummint, and being part of that pesky thing called civilization.

I'm sure Esti would prefer a northern clime like the Yukon wilderness to Somalia, anyways. Estonians aren't built for Subsaharan Africa, after all. |

Harbor Seal - Kind of like when the USSR sent all those dissidents to Siberia by train. I take it you would be effected by the mandates proposed in the OP. Edited by estonianman, Apr 24 2016, 05:39 PM.

Except you'd have the choice to be airlifted there or not. Once you elect to go though, no one's gonna come fetch you out of your solipsistic paradise. There's no way you wouldn't be affected by your own retarded mandate. I mean, seriously. Edited by Cruzula, Apr 24 2016, 05:41 PM.

Also, those Siberian dissidents had to work the mines and were under strict supervision. You'd be free... A free soul with no one to bug you, except for friendly grizzlies and sociable mosquitoes. |

Indeed. Soviet dissidents had a choice as well. They could have chosen to just just STFU and accepted the Blosheivks as their new overlords. Edited by estonianman, Apr 24 2016, 05:43 PM.

I don't mind your incessant whine and juvenile blathering about the pains of being a so-called "slave" to civilization. Keep whining if you want, or walk the walk and leave for good. The choice to live by your own words is in your own hands, Jedi. |

Sure you do.. I'm just saying that once you elect to leave civilization, you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. Stay if you want, or leave.. But if you leave, please shut the door and don't come back. |
