http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/byron-york-in-state-after-state-strong-gop-support-for-trumps-muslim-proposal/article/2589663 What was once furious Republican opposition to Donald Trump's proposal to temporarily ban foreign Muslims from entering the U.S. has turned to virtual silence in the face of widespread GOP voter approval. |

It's beautiful. Millions of Americans have had the opportunity to express their feelings on immigration and incompatibility of immigrants. Since 9/11, we have heard this nonsense about radical Muslims being a small percentage. Millions were hoodwinked by this lie. Even now we here that we can't afford to alienate moderate Muslims. Well, they're going to be alienated. Imagine the global reporting by Al Jazeera- Donald Trump won a Presidential nomination on a pledge to ban Muslims from entering the USA. The establishment failed. |

That's an irrelevent talking point from the left. You can't talk terrorism without 9/11. |

Terrorism was around before 9/11. Having said that, pointing out the rabid right have killed more Americans than Muslim terrorists since 9/11 is not irrelevant. It just goes to show how uneducated the Muslim haters are... |

Progressives throw out 9/11 because it is a singular event that disproves their thesis- so they ignore it. |

No matter how popular among the Trump kool-aid drinkers, a ban on immigration based on religion cannot pass constitutional muster, and could well be an impeachable event. |

That's interesting considering the very first immigration act passed by Congress in 1790 prohibited immigration from Islamic nations and was written by the same men who drafted the constitution and yet wasn't struck down by the court. What did they know that we don't? Besides self-respect? |

I looked it up. The Naturalization Act of 1790 contains no such provision I can find. Do you have a link? |

Trump's genius consists of creating a mass-media package with strong popular appeal that can serve to carry forward policy changes that would face all sorts of obstacles is presented in their own terms. This Muslim ban "until we figure out what the hell is going on" is a fine example. Behind the nativist, anti-immigrant sentiment and real fear of terrorist attack here in the USA, Trump is creating the necessary launching platform for fundamental shifts in US policy in the Middle East, policy shifts that would produce consternation if discussed openly at this point. Some of the key features which the Muslim immigration ban is setting up public opinion for: 1. backing away from Saudi Arabia and its fruitless and bloodthirsty attack on Yemen. The Kingdom may well collapse as a result of lower oil revenues and inherent instability. We can't let that drag the USA down with it. 2. breaking the bad news to Israel: the Taba accords are going to produce a peace deal with the Palestinians or Uncle Sam is cutting off the money. No kidding and right now! 3. The US is not going to get into any open-ended commitment in the Syrian civil war. We'll bomb the hell out of ISL -- they are on the ropes anyhow -- but no major troop commitments period. 4. Afghanistan is a write off 5. Pakistan is going to have to clean up its act internally and in Afghanistan or we'll pull the plug on assistance If President Trump succeeds in his policies it will finish the repair job done to US Middle East relations so damaged by the Bush family Inshallan |

No patience I see. The 1790 immigration act only allowed immigration from Europe. Immigration from Muslim nations. What clarification do you need? |

Trading on fear and relying on hate. Of course the GOP doesn't want this discussed. |
