Leftists are quick to learn if something is free but struggle to understand their own gender.

Kate Steinle was separated from her family permanently but leftists didn't seem to mind.

I'm so glad someone started this thread. It allowed Clone to break out his massive collection of Photoshopped pictures of Democrats peeing.

He's been saving these gems up for awhile.
I am sure that is titillating for drudgex

Only conservatives would demand that they be free to not bake a cake, while demanding that others not be free to choose where they pee.
Only people who believe in true freedom would demand that people should be free to choose what they want to do in both instances.
No one believes in true freedom.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

What in the hell is the problem in this country with going to the bathroom? How can we even address being $20 trillion in debt if we are all hung up over who goes where? It's now so confusing that I'm not sure which bathroom to use so I am going around the back of the building and peeing next to the dumpster...

This particular case I will need to see more about. Frankly, I am always suspicious when people don't have an ID on them because in most of this country you need an ID on your person for many different reason. Often when people claim to not have an ID then the reason for it is that they are hiding something. So on this case I definitely want more info before passing judgement on either party.

The problem with these laws in general is the way that they are worded. NC used the gender on the birth certificate as the standard. That obviously is problematic when you have people who have had gender reassignment surgeries and no longer even remotely resemble their birth gender. Obviously, those folks should be able to use the restroom of the gender that they now are.

Unfortunately, the other side of this is that the laws that give the transgender folks permission to use either restroom are also badly worded. When the language in the law permits any person to decide at any time on any whim what gender they are then this also causes potential problems. Sadly, there are many more sexual offenders and perverts in this country than there are transgender individuals. Writing the laws so loosely that any person can declare at any time what gender they are opens the door to allowing these criminals to legally enter the bathroom of their potential victims.

On the bright side, there is a solution that everyone should be able to be happy with. Simply require small business to have single stall bathrooms that are for either gender. Larger businesses can be required to have a few gender neutral single stall bathrooms in addition to the other gender specific bathrooms. Many already do this with the family bathrooms seen in large department stores. With this approach, those who have had full reassignment can use the gender that they now are while those who appear to be one sex but feel they are another can use the gender neutral bathrooms.
People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do them harm.

I think it should be relatively easy. If you look like a man, act like a man, and consider yourself a man, use the men's restroom. If you look like a woman, act like a woman, and consider yourself a woman, use the woman's restroom. If you kind of look like a man, kind of act like a man, but are in fact a woman and think of yourself as a woman, use the woman's restroom. And if you kind of look like a woman, kind of act like a woman, but are in fact a man and think of yourself as a man, use the men's restroom.

Couple of bathroom things to remember when using public bathrooms, 1) don't do weird things that will traumatize the children, 2) don't flaunt your real gender if it doesn't match the bathroom you're in, because that's just going to cause problems, and 3) use a stall if you don't have the equipment necessary to use a urinal.

We shouldn't be letting the police sort us by gender and bathroom use.

A pervert is a pervert with or without a law that allows them to enter bathroom A or to be confined to bathroom B. Most perverts aren't going to try to do things in public bathrooms because of the chance of discovery. Those that will, aren't going to be deterred by laws that make it illegal for them to be in the restroom to begin with.

This is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't actually exist and seems to be more a calculated move to allow government discrimination against transgender people and homosexuals who don't dress according to social norms for their gender.

Why should someone be forced to provide ID to go to the bathroom?

I will give you a simple case in point. Currently if a guy is not supposed to go into the women's restroom then if one enters you know without question he is up to something. On the other hand if a guy and enter a women's room without anyone questioning his entry then it becomes very easy to put things like micro cameras in the stalls that look like some normal think like a coat hanger.

There are also models that are so small that they can not be easily seen.

This is just one example, there are many others.

I think my solution is simpler and it gives everyone a place to go without anyone questioning them.

In my opinion you should not need an ID to go to the restroom but in general you do need an ID on your person at all times for various other reasons.

In the case of this incident had the individual been in possession of an ID that stated what sex they were then all would have been over quickly. Personally I suspect that this was a set up but I could be wrong.

Also, the link commentary is misleading. The individual was removed by male officers but there was also a female officer present. The incident was evidently back in December before the law was passed in NC and Miss. The incident was not in either of those states. Lastly the person in question failed to follow the lawful orders of a Police Officer.

This was basically a set up like the one's that asshat does from the right. The guy who did the planned parenthood videos and other "gotcha" videos.

The NC trans law only applies to Government facilities, such as public schools, courthouses, parks etc. Non public facilities at this time are free to make any policy they wish if at all. I agree with the third party gender neutral bathrooms in government buildings and non-public buildings that wish to restrict bathroom use.

The whole pervert, child molesting thing is built on myth. Trans people have been using the bathroom of choice for years. If non-trans men wanted to dress up and molest little girls they never needed a law to do so. Instances of that happening are pretty rare. There has been and always remains the potential for a perverted man to molest a little boy in a restroom. Again instances of that happening are pretty rare.

If a man is sick enough to want to put micro cameras in the women's room, he's going to figure out a way to do it so he won't get caught.

Is this really a significant problem where we have to pass more laws to make something already illegal even more illegal? How many men were prosecuted, nation wide, last year for clandestinely placing micro camera's in bathrooms of any kind?

I'd hazard the guess, not too damn many.

There are more sex offenders in the USA than there are transgender people.

Heck, at this point can we even call people who want to have sex with children perverts? After all, it is not a choice for them, they are born that way. There is almost certainly some genetic difference between them and the rest of us.

Mind you, I am not in any way calling transgender folks perverts or criminals. I am merely pointing out that the there are more people currently doing time for sex crimes than than there are transgender people in this nation.

So, if you pass a law which says that a person can decide at any time, for any reason, on any whim, what gender they feel like today, and then use the bathroom associated with that gender it will eventually cause a problem. A problem that did not exist before the "Use any bathroom you want" law was passed.

This is why I proposed a solution that would not require any changes to anyone's rights.

I never claimed that any trans person was a molester. I stated very clearly that laws which are worded to allow people to randomly decide, on a whim, at any time what gender they are could and would result in it being more difficult to prosecute cases involving a criminal doing something illegal in a bathroom.

I then gave a very simple solution to the problem that does not give either side what they want but that would effectively fix the problem.

They used the bathroom for the sex that they appear to be on the outside.

To be fair, there were no laws defining who could use what bathroom until certain cities tried to pass ordinances that stated a person could decide at any time on a whim what bathroom they are allowed to use.
