A Trump Rally Revival

It starts a few days out. These things pop up quickly. Someone in the office says they heard an announcement on the radio or a newsflash online. “He’s coming to the arena.” That morning some coworkers stop by and ask if you are going. Some say they saw him the last time he swung through the area, and others say they will avoid the circus.

“Trump is coming.”

Skipping leg day is the equivalent of a woman having an abortion. You're ashamed of it, and it was probably unnecessary.

Hey look, another Trump rally is coming up. Don't worry though, it's a "non-violent peaceful" one as opposed to those horrible violent peaceful ones.

The Trump party, as I now call the Republican party, since it's temporarily hijacked the Republican party, reminds me a great deal of the Native American Party of the mid-1850s. Which, in its short life, became known as the Know-Nothing movement.

The Native American Party split from the Whig Party and renamed itself in 1855 as the American Party, which soon became commonly known as the Know-Nothing movement. It was basically a political party that operated on a national basis during the mid-1850s, just before the birth of the Republican party.

The movement arose in response to an influx of migrants and promised to "purify" American politics by limiting or ending the influence of Irish Catholics and other immigrants, which reflected the overall nativity of the anti-Catholic sentiment of that period. The Know - Nothing movement was empowered by fears that the country was being overwhelmed by German and Irish Catholic immigrants, which were seen as hostile to Republican values, which were seen as under the control of the Pope.

The rise to fame was short lived and it ended in a bloody fight on the streets of Washington DC. American history occasionally repeats itself, especially our nation's political history.

Trump is not the leader of the Republican Party far from it. He's the leader of a movement - the Know-Nothing movement, and their time in the national spotlight will also be short lived. American history will repeat itself, once again.

It reminds me of the Immigration Act of 1924, the last time America obtained real control over reckless immigration............... :booboo:
