Cuban exile activist Ramón Saúl Sánchez: a man with no country

Cuban exile activist Ramón Saúl Sánchez, who came to Miami from Cuba almost 50 years ago, was told his application for U.S. residency was denied and was asked to leave the country "as soon as possible." If all else fails, he says he will return to Cuba, regardless of the consequences.

The lesser persons have to stay. Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to deport Republicans.

The answer is that I have no idea if Obama - who is running a country of 300 million people - had anything to do with this individual case.

Odds are that he didn't but I don't know and hence I can't say much about it.

It appears he is being treated like everyone else. Because there are only so many slots for deportation, due to Congressional funding, the Obama administration has focused on catching and deporting illegals with criminal backgrounds. Mr. Sanchez has violated multiple laws and even has spent time in prison in the U.S.

Why should he be treated differently than anyone else?

He's an anti-Castro activist who will likely face life in prison or execution if returned to Cuba.

Depending on who is getting deported, it's interesting to see how the opinions about deportation shift back and forth.

Seems like he could be a candidate for political asylum. Maybe not necessarily in the U.S. but elsewhere, Mexico, Central America?

According to the article he has no interest in asylum in any other country.
He has had a number of opportunities to legitimize his stay in the USA and has purposely declined to do so. He did not want to jeopardize any potential to return to Cuba. This is why he didn't apply for US citizenship.

If he has to leave he will leave for Cuba. By his choice.

He may reconsider if he feels his life is in danger. Who knows?

No ($@: Sherlock. Next you'll feign outrage that there's no rush to deport French lingerie models.
Skipping leg day is the equivalent of a woman having an abortion. You're ashamed of it, and it was probably unnecessary.

That's a very low bar to cross and far fewer than President Trump.
