There was no judgement in my post. Just statements of the facts of the case.
You don't know the facts of her health.

I only know what she told the newspaper when they interviewed her.

She is the one who told them what caused her disability. The only thing I added is that several of her conditions are those known to be very difficult to prove or disprove diagnostically. That is a factual statement about the conditions. I can list them if you like.

I am not trying to say she is not disabled. I don't know her. I am merely stating clinical facts as they apply to the various ailments she has. Since you may be skeptical I will give you one example.

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/chronic-fatigue-syndrome/basics/definition/con-20022009

As I said, a difficult disease to pinpoint and confirm diagnostically. Psoriatic arthritis, is a tough one and it gets misdiagnosed. Fibromyalgia is also very difficult to definitively prove and often gets misdiagnosed as several things.

Why? It is basically the same. All those performers who canceled their shows chose not to perform a service in a state that did something they politically disagreed with. This guy has chosen not to do business with people he politically disagrees with. It is essentially the same thing.

Mind you, I would not have done what he did but then again, I would not have canceled the performances if I had a scheduled show either...

Since I supported PayPal and Springsteen in their choices I can't not support this guy without being a hypocrite.
Springsteen and PayPal protested against laws at making some Americans second class citizens. Not the same as leaving a woman high and dry b/c you disagree with her candidate...
Both are businesses choosing not to do business due to political concerns.

I should in all fairness say that this is personal for me so I have a certain sensitivity to it.

It's not easy to get on disability and hard to diagnose does not mean it was not diagnosed.

But as I said in all fairness...

Oh I understand, it is very difficult to get on disability. I've known a number of people who spent years disabled without being able to get disability. A couple at least did get back payments once they finally got approved.

Again, I am not saying that she does not deserve to be on disability as she almost certainly has a lengthy medical history so don't take this wrong.

You are like me and are old enough to remember when a person who was in their 20s would have been told to "Suck it up buttercup" if they presented many of her conditions to a doctor. When I think of some of the injuries that I worked through when I was young (and let's not even try to compare today to my dad's youth), in today's world I probably would have spent months of my life on some kind of disability or workers comp lol.

Still not the same.

One came out to perform a service in an emergency (small 'e' we hope) and stranded the person, the ramifications of which could have been serious. They refused to do their job once on site.

The other canceled. In advance; which probably disappointed some but in no way stranded anyone nor did it endanger anyone. He did not wait until the venue was filled and then come on stage and make an announcement.

One refused to do their job that they reported to. The other cancelled a show.

I've seen bands walk off a show after taking the stage. It was Bull Feces. Now that case has similarities.

Temp disability or work comp is fine and can have an important place in a recovery process.

I do remember the suck it up days. Some of it legit, some of it was just cruel and I am thrilled that we move away from an emotional reaction to injury and illness as the go to diagnoses and 'cure'.

Yeah, it is probably closer to walking off the stage on the night of the show.

As for the emergency, according to the article her car had air conditioning which means it was running but for some reason could not be driven. So not really an emergency since the woman was unhurt.

My opinion is that he should have towed her. I would not have let politics get in the way of business. Then again, if I had been Springsteen, I would have played the scheduled show because again, I would not have let politics get in the way of business.

On the bright side, she evidently got towed out of there with no harm to her, the guy looks like and ass and she got her 15 minutes of fame. All is well that ends well.

Yeah but the cruel stuff gives you such great stories when you are older, like walking in 3 foot deep snow to school, up hill, both ways lol.

(For the record I have never walked to school in snow, I live in Florida. In Florida we tell the kids how in our day the schools did not have air conditioning. That scares em worse than the snow would and it's true)

I don't know where they were but a motorist on the side of the road, particularly a woman alone is in a situation of potential harm.

If she was in her driveway... not so much.

I actually used to walk in the snow to school. I lived far enough from the school to qualify for a bus pass but preferred to walk.

The cruel stuff did give my wife a few stories. It's why she has so much metal in her body today that we can't even get into an airport parking lot without setting off the metal detectors in the terminal.
