A group of ultra-conservative Christian men are planning to meet up in Kansas later this year to arrange marriages for their pubescent daughters … and they don’t believe their daughters’ consent is actually necessary. Quiverfull patriarch, Vaughn Ohlman, who runs a website promoting early, “fruitful” marriage for Truly True Christian™ children, has announced plans for a “Get Them Married!” retreat where fundamentalist fathers will find, and TAKE, suitably submissive young brides to bear many babies for their adolescent sons. The weekend retreat, which will be held in Wichita this coming November, is “designed to bring together like-minded families (and their unmarried young men and women) who are committed to young, fruitful marriage and to help them overcome the barriers which have kept their children unmarried.” For around $1200 per family, Quiverfull parents will spend three days “networking” with similarly-delusional zealots who believe men are to be in charge, wives are to be submissive baby-makers, and children are to be sheltered, isolated, indoctrinated, and pushed toward early, prolific marriages for Jesus. |

There would be no problem if they met in Gaza, where the legal age of marriage for girls is twelve and marriages with cousins are usually arranged...........

The only differences between Christian extremists and Muslim extremists is the God they believe in and the color of their skin... |

These so-called Christians are not ashamed to treat their offspring worse than cattle. Somebody should tell them that we live in 2016. |

What if these girls self identify as 18 or older? I find it odd that lib get in a tizzy over this but have no issues importing more 7th century knuckle draggers from the middle east and elsewhere.... |

A three-day long blind date where you take your parents along in an environment surrounded by crazy religious people ensuring no sex will happen? Man, just add unanesthetized dental surgery and who wouldn't want to go?

You obviously think it is sick for a husband to spank his wife for spending hours playing with her dolls and for talking back.............

Not if his wife is of legal age and consents to the spankings. That's just naughty... |
