Looks like leftists haven't learned anything from their last boycott of Chick-fil-A

Leftists are ready for another round of drubbing with their silly boycott.

Kate Steinle was separated from her family permanently but leftists didn't seem to mind.

Leftists should know by now that it only works when judges force a law through, as we saw with gay marriage. Or Obama's recent "shame list" of anti-gay church colleges, which of course was also unconstitutional. People do not agree with leftists unless they are forced to or are carefully brainwashed through 20 years of state education.

Why shouldn't people be able to boycott a business? You may not agree with them or think what they're doing is pointless but it's good that people boycott businesses who have practices they disagree with.

You did not recall the outcome last time when the left called for boycotting Chick-fil-A?

Yes I do.

Do you remember the last time the American Family Association tried a major boycott?

Let me put a hint up for you

I feel great. (Thanks for your concern)

You just don't like being called on it when you dive to the cheapest right wing denominator.

You don't think it's silly for a big city leftist mayor calling for a boycott of a restaurant that does not share his left leaning political views?

I used to feel that way too.

But frankly, I've come to see boycotts as a bad thing. Yes, people have the right to do them. But they are signs of the increasing politification of virtually every aspect of life. Like that dumb story about the tow truck driver who refused to tow some woman because she's a Bernie Sanders supporter. People can't patronize places anymore, be social media friends anymore, give someone a tow anymore. It's just getting ridiculous. We are separating in every aspect of life.

Except in extreme cases, we really should leave politics to the voting booth. Unless a business is run by total Nazis, we should probably just not worry about it.

That's the point though, if a business is being unprofessional then people should boycott it if they feel that way. Like the towtruck guy, if he can't do his job then people should know and react accordingly. If a business is acting in a way the customers dislike then they should know it and be able to choose whether or not they want to continue down that road and possibly allow their business to suffer because of it.

Chick-fil-A is not being unprofessional. The company does not agree with gay marriage. De Blasio is crying like a baby.

Leftists should keep this up.

I think I will leave my signature in place for a while.

Well, the tow truck guy I wouldn't mind boycotting. He's being a total jerk and acting unprofessionally by letting his politics interfere with his job.

But when it comes to Chick-Fil-A, unless they were throwing gay folks out of their restaurant or they were so utterly hateful in their statements, I'd still eat there. A few statements to media opposing gay marriage by the owner and some contributions to groups against gay rights aren't really enough for me to call a boycott.

In fact, it might be better if we actually started engaging with people on the other side of the aisle rather than trying to damage them economically and force compliance to our will.

I'm not saying boycotts are never appropriate. But I think they are being overused. Businesses are having to navigate cultural minefields over silly stuff like the color of coffee cups at Christmas time or whether to say "Happy holidays" to shoppers or which gender uses what bathroom.

Where does it end?

I was referring to the towtruck from the story earlier. However, if somebody does not agree with a business they can boycott them if they feel strongly enough.

I'm not one for boycotts, period.

I make my personal decision of what to purchase and where to go and when I find something politically offensive or environmentally harmful about an industry or product and I can avoid it, I do.

As for who calls for one; conservatives need to make up their minds whether something is free speech or ridiculous speech based on the same criteria for one group that they disapprove of vs. one they approve of because right now conservatives are playing both sides of that fence. Very convenient. Not very honest.
