Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy

By Paul Sperry

May 8, 2016

"Hillary’s rumored running mate, Housing Secretary Julian Castro, is cooking up a scheme to reallocate funding for Section 8 housing to punish suburbs for being too white and too wealthy. The scheme involves super-sizing vouchers to help urban poor afford higher rents in pricey areas, such as Westchester County, while assigning them government real-estate agents called “mobility counselors” to secure housing in the exurbs. Castro plans to launch the Section 8 reboot this fall, even though a similar program tested a few years ago in Dallas has been blamed for shifting violent crime to affluent neighborhoods."

Economic segregation and a highly stratified society are part of the Republican vision statement. The problem is: we've gone too far. Our poorest citizens now live ten to fifteen years less than our wealthy folks. Being a grandparent isn't a luxury consumer item.

Our social mobility is now markedly weaker than other advanced democracies. If you are born poor here, your chances of escaping poverty are better in Britain, Australia etc.

Democracy can flourish only within a safe zone of social equality; otherwise, the peasants storm the Bastille. The rise of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders within our political system is a sign that we are approaching the limit of social inequality and class oppression that our people are willing to tolerate.

Skipping leg day is the equivalent of a woman having an abortion. You're ashamed of it, and it was probably unnecessary.

The intellectual weakness of your position is revealed by your personalized and insulting response. I didn't say I was poor. I am not poor; in fact, I am a "trust fund baby" who literally has more income than I can spend. I have direct knowlege of poverty in my area through the philanthropy which I dispense personally. I daresay I have more money and more experience with poor people than you do.

Tsalagi1 pointed out the obvious foolishness of your idea. You assume, despite all evidence to the contrary, that poor people are voluntarily poor because they refuse to go and get one of the availabe jobs that would lift them out of poverty. I find it difficult to believe that you truly think such a situation prevails in America today. It seems more likely that you need to rationalize your selfishness by blaming poverty on the poor.

Individual poverty is based on individual decisions...institutional poverty is by design...by liberals....shameless SOB's that they are....
Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence.

IV drug use, unsafe sex, eating fried chicken, smoking cigarettes, playing with guns, joining a gang, and reckless speeding without a seat belt are all worth having a shorter lifespan....Class oppression in America is when the teacher gives you too much homework to do...It is hard to escape poverty in the USA when you only sit on your azz.......... ;)

The Constitution is a piece of toilet paper to leftists.

I won't be surprised if leftists demand that restaurants cannot allow four people of the same race sit together at the same table.
Kate Steinle was separated from her family permanently but leftists didn't seem to mind.

The suburbs are becoming less white because most people see the beauty of brown skin and less wealthy because the Cons are propping up corporations.

Yes, America is full of lazy entitled people. This is fact. Did I say "all" people. No. No I did not. That was all you.

And unlike you George. (what is your name anyway?) I worked for what I have. Something you know nothing about. You want to end poverty? Come talk to me when you start giving your free money away. As for mine? I'll spend it as I wish on whom and what and when I wish.

I am ready to talk to you know because I have been giving away thousands of dollars every year for over half a century. So what? I do it because I want to. It is my choice. I could buy a new Porsche instead except that I like funding worthy people, causes and institutions more. It really is none of your business.

Equally naive is your self-serving assumption that the money you earn is somehow better stuff than the money I get from investment. You really don't have any economic education, do you? Your wages are nothing special. Your kind get a gulp of milk, my kind skim the cream. I don't defend the system, you do.

It is cute to read you piously asserting the superior moral value of labor. You work because you have to. I work because I like to and because I like the people I work with. I spent a couple of hours this morning helping my friend repair his hydraulic log splitter. I didn't make a dime from the effort. Surely my motive is more noble than your greedy grubbing to climb into the middle class. You sell your labor. I give mine away. Who is the altruitst here?
