Why is the Democratic Party changing its rules for Independents who don't necessarily vote for Democrats anyway... |

Wouldn't it make more sense for Democrats to attempt to woo independent voters rather than dismissing them out of hand? Is the Democratic party an exclusive, elitist club or is it a political organization attempting to gain the widest support possible from the voters? Edited by Opinionated, May 19 2016, 02:06 PM.

Can you imagine what it would be like if the roles were reversed and Bernie was winning and Hillary's supporters were acting like BernBots and throwing a tantrum... |

Eisenhower chose to run on the GOP ticket just as he announced he would run. The republicans had no problem with it, they just wanted to win |

I don't remember Clinton supporters acting at all like this. Once they realized it was over, the by far majority ended up supporting President Obama. Then again, those were Democrats we're talking about. If an Independent wants to vote for a Democratic nominee, join the party. Just b/c you join the party doesn't mean you have to vote for every Dem running. If Bernie somehow wins, he'll have my vote... |

The majority voted for Obama because he was an acceptable second choice to Hillary, because on the issues they weren't much different This is a totally different ballgame. Sanders is a New Deal democrat, Hillary is a centrist neocon neoliberal, practically the opposite Yet Bernie is an acceptable second choice, whereas Hillary is considered as unacceptable as a Bush |

The Democratic Party does reach out to Independents. The Democratic Party welcomes the Independent members of Congress into their caucus. They even appoint Independents to leadership committee assignments (as they did with Senator Sanders). But if an Independent believes that “SOS Clinton is corrupt”, or if they believe that the “Democratic Party is conservative” and has “abandoned the poor and the middle class”, then there is really not much room for compromise. |

So you're saying that if I don't join your party, I shouldn't vote for your candidate? Is that really something you want to be saying? |

All valid points. Perhaps there is no room for compromise and Sanders supporters should resign themselves to just sitting this one out, if that's what Democrats really want. |

You people weren't excited about Hillary then and are not excited about her now...she is the Bob Dole of the Democrat party....the only reason she is there is because it's her turn and the Clintons stifled any serious challengers to put their hat in the ring...not because anybody really wants her there... the only hard core Hillary supporters are establishment people on the Dem teat, lobbyists and their clients and the paid trolls like we see here.... How sad is it you have to pay people to troll ..... |

Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence. | |
