That would certainly be the Occam's Razor determination, in lieu of evidence to the contrary. |

I am an experienced professional on sound reinforcement from through ![]() Long enough that this was like my first mixer I learned on - literally "keys" and "potentiometers" (pots) ![]() From the monthly Tea Dance at the Fairmount Hotel to a Super Bowl. Yes, accidents happen in live. But once again, read what I wrote earlier. |

I read it but I don't know enough about audio terms to understand it. But there is no indication that they didn't punch up the right mics or did anything with various inputs. I assume the group didn't start singing simply because the song already had vocals so they just sort of stood there. Can't they simply have played the wrong song? One version has lyrics. The other doesn't. The lyrics wouldn't be played separately, would they? It would all be the same track, correct? |

I'd bet there should have been no track played at all and it was supposed to be acapella ... |

Depending on what they intend to play back they could have any number of playback units plugged into the board. What you are speaking to is a tape error, (more likely) unless they are singing A cappella - which is what a chorus in these cases usually does. If not they would have brought their own music to play back, which would have been part of the sound check. But understand how mixing board works. Here is a simple 24 input mixer ![]() You can see the board tape along the bottom of this one and it has been labeled with what is input into that slider (pot - for potentiometer - if you're an old schooler like me). The mics have been patched into the board, a sound check has taken place and the levels are set. The inputs are then routed to a master (gray sliders on the right hand side of the board) and from there the board sends a feed to the amps that goes out to the house speakers. All that is sitting there pre-show ready to go. Its a push of a single button or a sliding up of the master when the cue is given. Now is it possible to have hit another input, yes of course. Like it is possible for you to hit the wrong key on your keyboard. However, if I ask you as an experienced typist to type "asd" and instead you hit "p" even after painting the asd keys day-glow yellow then that is the equivalent. Possible, sure. Likely - not really. This probably complicated things more. I'm used to demoing on an actual board. I could go through the whole thing literally step by step from placing the mics to running the cable to inputting the cable, to setting the levels etc... but that will take awhile and many more photos. What is it about free speech that you can't handle? Why do you have to silence people you disagree with? |

I asked you to explain exactly what it was you were saying. That is encouraging speech, not silencing it. No matter. We know what you were implying and you have received a formal warning for it. I suggest you leave it alone from here, but that's up to you. Edited by Coast2coast, May 23 2016, 08:11 PM.

Well, I'm afraid that's all above my head. Then again, I can barely operate my car radio if the station isn't on a pre-set. |

Truth be told, the wife is in charge of setting the clock and the radio in the car. She's a natural.

Three pages long with time and money wasted on an investigation because gays cannot sing the national anthem? What has Obama done to this once great nation? |

Cooler heads seem to be prevailing. The fellow who hit the wrong button is apparently an ardent supporter of gay rights who simply...well...hit the wrong button. The whole thing was an accident and now the chorus would like the poor guy rehired. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/san-diego-gay-men-s-chorus-wants-padres-to-rehire-ousted-dj-222619793.html?hl=1&noRedirect=1 http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/fired-padres-dj-defends-himself-after-national-anthem-controversy-072515658.html |
