The TSA Is So Bad That Delta Has Had to Install Its Own Ultra-Efficient Security Checkpoints To help alleviate long lines at Atlanta’s airport, Delta spent more than a million dollars to install a pair of new high-tech security lanes that can handle more passengers simultaneously. When even the airlines, who are happy to charge passengers extra to sit next to their family members, thinks the TSA is doing a bad job, you know there’s a problem. ![]() "Muh' government keepin' me safe" http://gizmodo.com/the-tsa-is-so-bad-that-delta-has-installed-its-own-ultr-1779118856 Edited by estonianman, May 28 2016, 01:19 PM.

Rather easy to do that when only Delta has to worry bout only Delta passengers, bet they'd have sung a different tune if they had to do it for EVERY airline as the TSA has to do. Easy to bitch, but I will give them props for dealing with an issue that is an ongoing difficulty with the TSA. |

TSA Spent $160M on Airport Scanners That Can't Detect Weapons The Transportation Security Administration spent $160 million on airport body scanners that have failed to detect security threats and have frustrated passengers, leading to scrutiny by lawmakers. Out of the $160 million spent on body scanners, $120 million was spent on machines that are still used at airports across the country, Politico is reporting. The remaining $40 million was spent on the "naked" X-ray machines, which the TSA removed from airports in May 2013 after passengers were outraged over alleged privacy violations. They were also concerned about the possible health risks associated with the machines. The scanners costed more than $150,000 each, on average, since the TSA bought the first 45 scanners in 2008, according to numbers the TSA recently gave to lawmakers. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson reassigned the acting TSA administrator in June after it was reported that TSA screeners failed 95 percent of the time to detect mock explosives and weapons that undercover agents tried to get through security. link |

Because they want to differentiate themselves from their competition. Any other basic market principles you would like to go over? Or are you going to divert this thread to preach about your Marxist narrative? Edited by estonianman, May 29 2016, 12:16 PM.

GWB jr implemented the TSA as a post Clinton/911 recession government job program, then Obama let them unionize. So in other words, the TSA is stage 4 societal cancer. |

Republicans repeatedly cut the TSA budget then they scream it's not doing its job, just like they do with the IRS. When the fact of the matter is the GOP wishes to shut down both agencies, along with the Dept. of Education and the EPA. |

So where did they get the $160 million for non-working security scanners? I am sure Delta did it for a fraction of a fraction of the cost. there is an obvious reason for that Edited by estonianman, May 29 2016, 12:34 PM.

We can eliminate TSA by offering every passenger a loaded shotgun under their seat , like flotation devices are...It would save $billions and probably prevent terrorist actions on airlines far more effectively............

Actually I will give government credit where it is due - undercover air marshals were the most effective against hijackings. That said - there is no reason private security couldn't fill this void, and it could probably do it better. |

Not Marxist, a request for efficiency which streamlines processes which brings in more profit, you should be able to see that right? If I spend "X" of my profits for instrastructure improvements, and "Y" equals more passengers moving in a timely fashion, then "Z" should reflect an increase in profit yes? |

Indeed. Your first post indicated that this is as a bad thing - as if Delta looking after its investors is a travesty. "ZOMG they did it for the (clinch) ... PROFITS"!! I do not think you are a Marxist - but you reiterate Marxist and collectivist principles. Let's just replace the corporate VPs of Delta with the bourgeoisie and there you go. If that is not your intention - then you are welcome for the education. Edited by estonianman, May 29 2016, 01:31 PM.
