Papa - had his left elbow shot off and had a piece of bomb fragment go through his helmet and create a scar on his forehead

taught me that I should wear my wristwatch with the face on the same side of my arm as the palm of my hand (upside down for most people) so that the reflection would not be caught in the sun and thereby give the Germans a point of reference on my location so they could shoot me

Father - helo pilot in Vietnam - shot down, crash landed directly into a tree so that he caught the brunt of the crash & his passengers could live - posthumously received a huge box full of medals...
