ETA - closed for immature insult/fabrication in post 24 - dcbl Warning: Facts to follow: If you hate facts and science do not read this thread or participate in it! In 1970 3% of Americans were clinically obese. Today it is over 35%. Obesity harms this country in numerous ways. Prevalence of Overweight and Obesity More than two-thirds (68.8 percent) of adults are considered to be overweight or obese. More than one-third (35.7 percent) of adults are considered to be obese. More than 1 in 20 (6.3 percent) have extreme obesity. ![]() Obese adults cost us 42 percent more on direct healthcare costs than adults who are a healthy weight. Per capita healthcare costs for severely or morbidly obese adults (BMI >40) are 81 percent higher than for healthy weight adults.6 In 2000, around $11 billion was spent on medical expenditures for morbidly obese U.S. adults. Moderately obese (BMI between 30 and 35) individuals are more than twice as likely as healthy weight individuals to be prescribed prescription pharmaceuticals to manage medical conditions. Costs for patients presenting at emergency rooms with chest pains are 41 percent higher for severely obese patients, 28 percent higher for obese patients and 22 percent higher for overweight patients than for healthy- weight patients. Now For The $64,000 Question and Inconvenient Truth I'm sure a lot of you are fat so that would make you, no pun intended, the elephant in the room. Maybe you were not always fat but as time went on instead of losing weight when your clothes got tight you bought bigger sizes year after year. Now you are fat as hell and unhealthy. The term for people who chronically eat too much is glutton. Glutton is defined as an excessively greedy eater. Fat people know what they need to do to lose weight and keep it off but they rarely do it. Is their failure to behave responsibly when it comes to food and weight loss a matter of can't or a matter of won't. Here's what I think. It's a matter of won't. What we choose to eat and how much we eat is a choice. Remaining ignorant about nutrition is a choice. Feeding your kids junk food is a choice. Edited by dcbl, Jun 4 2016, 08:28 AM.

You are correct sir. They also keep the struggling medical industry which is barely 18% of our GDP in business and in addition to that they have increased textile production. If an American is not wearing at least an XX large he is not doing his job.

Regular exercise/workouts can often compensate for being over-weight as far as health concerns go. I also never bought into the whole BMI thing. Going by the BMI calculations over half of the guys in the NFL would be considered obese. |

One has nothing to do with the other, but nice try. Anyways one can identify obesity how ever they choose. My point is that exercise and workout regiments can overcome the health risks of those that may be considered slightly obese by the BMI calculations, and lets not forget muscle weighs more then fat. There is also professional medical opinions out there on why the BMI thing is somewhat bogus. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/265215.php |

First off you lied when you said I sound fat. I know how one sounds fat. They breath too much, their thighs often rub, they make a lot of noise eating. You can't hear me. I have a low body fat %. Why did you lie about me? Since you lied about me then how can anyone trust anything you say to be true? Care to explain that? |
