About 12 years back I visited the Louvre. What is interesting is that the new Louvre, designed by IM Pei, is mostly underground. First you have take staircases down through the glass pyramid, then you take the escalators up to the actual exhibits. But they store a lot of stuff down there, ...and all of it has to be moved. The Seine will reach its high point in the next 12 hours, and the Louvre is right there in its path! The Musee D'Orsay (home of much of the Impressionist paintings) is also right next to the Seine. They're scrambling as well.
