SIX MONTHS AGO: Republicans Kill Law Banning Terror Suspects Like Orlando Shooter From Buying Guns
Topic Started: Jun 12 2016, 03:26 PM (800 Views)
Member013

The FBI confirmed that the suspect, Omar Mateen, was a “known quantity.” Presumably, federal law enforcement knew he was a danger, but their hands were tied when it came to actually preventing him from acquiring the gun (the same type used in the Sandy Hook and Aurora massacres) he would use to kill more than 50 people. A law like the one Democrats purposed six months ago would have been a nice step towards preventing this tragedy. Instead, Republicans once again sided with gun sales and more people are dead.

This is how warped the gun-obsessed fringe of the right has gotten. Terror suspects can be barred from flying, but they must never have their right to bear arms infringed. That’s “tyranny.”

Guess who was on the terror watch list? Orlando’s nightclub shooter.

Yeah - because I am positive that Omar's sociopathic killing spree would have been deterred by a mere law.

"For Orlando residents, there is blood on the hands of someone closer to home. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) was quick to rush out a statement to explain that this was all about Islam. His eagerness to avoid talking about guns speaks volumes."

I would love to see the actual law we are talking about

your link has a link to an MSNBC article about the law

Diane Feinstein claims that George Bush had supported this or similar legislation...

MSNBC is not exactly an unbiased news source

What else was in this bill that caused it to be voted down?

Republicans sign checks on the front, democrats sign them on the back…True story!

On a side note - I find it interesting that with the vast security apparatus of the Federal government - that s**t like this slips their grasp.

I have several guns - and had to fill out multiple forms and identification checks before the purchase. The entire process can take an hour or so.

Yeah? Care to source some of these homophobic statements?

How about the regressive left's adamant protection of some of the most extreme homophobes, bigots, sexists and racists on the planet?

well

it looks like there is more to this story!

THIS shooter was a security guard with a Class G License - right?

How was he on the no fly list without losing security clearances?

AND, isn't this guy the ONLY type of person that many of our friends on the left believe should be allowed to even have guns at all?

I am also going to say this - NFL has zero due process. Your name can be on there in error, or by fiat. Plus, it's a nightmare to get your name removed. That's one reason this bill failed and why it should fail again.

And I think there was more to it than this as well

Trump needs to focus more so on the male vote. He should have nationalized the Boy Scouts when they decided to admit girls.

It didn't slip their grasp. There is no law preventing a suspected terrorist from going to any gun dealership in America and purchasing an assault rifle and as much ammunition as IS can buy for him.

Republicans blocked the bill for fear that maybe someone would be wrongfully suspected and prevented from exercising their constitutional right to own weapons designed for the sole purpose of killing as many humans as possible.

Stop the madness. Vote straight Dem in November and get everyone you know to also vote straight Dem

Terrible since the criminals and terrorists can just buy human killing weapons in other states and cities.

Nationwide ban of human killing weapons, along with steep jail time for possession of these weapons, would go a long way.

Or the people making the laws should be shamed for pandering to special interests and put the people first. Maybe some Republicans here will acknowledge the errors on their side in this case.

So you want to ban knives, baseball bat, chainsaw, forks, metal pipes, automobiles, etc?
