An ex-government minister in Argentina has been arrested after he was allegedly seen trying to hide millions of dollars in cash in a monastery.
Officials said the police were called after nuns working at the religious community near Buenos Aires saw a man throw plastic bags over a wall.
Jose Lopez was the public works minister in the former government of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
Judges have been investigating several former officials for money-laundering.
Mr Lopez was initially detained at the Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima religious community around 55km (35 miles) west of the capital Buenos Aires for illegal possession of a .22 calibre rifle.
Police then discovered wads of cash in several currencies as well as watches in packages inside the bags.
Local media say around $7m were found in dollars, yen, euros and other currencies.

A Kirchner minister. Oh my. The dude tried to hide 7 million bucks, ...by throwing it over a wall in a monastery?

Che, ...are you paying attention, Che?

A Kirchner minister.
No, that is a BBC mistake. José López was just a secretary:

Following the arrest of former Public Works secretary José López, Victory Front (FpV) officials moved to distance themselves from the case, issuing a statement condemning all instances of corruption.

While it condemned the apparent corruption implied in the López case, the Kirchnerites also used the opportunity to point out possible loopholes in the government’s proposed bid to introduce a so-called whitewash law of tax amnesty.

Just a secretary? And he pilfered, what, 7 million REAL dollars? Just a secretary? Well, if HE got away with 7 million, just imagine how much the "higher-ups" in the Kirchner administration got away with. Right? With me here?

Furthermore, I thought YOU socialists were of a noble cause, help the poor, spread the wealth and feed the hungry? What happened? For years and years and years the socialists/communists of South America have been telling anyone who would listen that "we had the solution" to economic inequality. We would solve it, ...eradicate it. No more! Trust us! Just give us political power and we'll show you!

So, Che, what happened? Argentina is an economic mess, Brasil is falling apart at the seams, ...and we won't even get into Venezuela. Your people, your programs, ...your solutions. A freaking disaster wherever you look. Now, ...now, ...it turns out that YOUR people have been stealing tens of millions of dollars meant for the people. How'd that happen? Theft. Corruption. Where'd the money go? In Venezuela they had over 1 trillion dollars POUR into the economy because of high oil prices. Over 1 trillion REAL dollars. Where'd it all go? You people were in charge, ...right? Your people held the purse strings, ....right? Look at Brasil and Petrobras, or Odebrecht, corruption beyond belief. Dilma was in charge, ...right? How'd that happen?

So, what we have here is a socialist/Cuban-inspired political movement that turns out to be no-different when it is compared with western capitalism. Perhaps even MORE corrupt. Not only is there theft involved here, but really, really bad economic ideas as well. Socialism. Seize all private assets. Fascistic group-think. We're right - you're wrong - go suck eggs.

If a mere "secretary" can steal 7 million, just imagine how much money the higher-ups in Cristina's government STOLE...?
