![]() Yes, we know. Our smartphone batteries are bad because they barely last a day. But it's partially our fault because we've been charging them wrong this whole time. Many of us have an ingrained notion that charging our smartphones in small bursts will cause long-term damage to their batteries, and that it's better to charge them when they're close to dead. But we couldn't be more wrong. If fact, a site from battery company Cadex called Battery University details how the lithium-ion batteries in our smartphones are sensitive to their own versions of "stress." And, like for humans, extended stress could be damaging your smartphone battery's long-term lifespan. If you want to keep your smartphone battery in top condition and go about your day without worrying about battery life, you need to change a few things. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-best-way-to-charge-your-iphone-2016-7 |

This is what's annoying. Don't give me the spiel, tell me. What is it that I need to do before I have to click through endless pages and read endless guff before the nitty gritty tells me that I have to buy something which still won't provide the promise that I was offered at the beginning. Just like politicians. |

Bottom line, lithium ion batteries do not have the same battery memory issues that ni-cad batteries had. Therefore, you don't need to run them below 50% prior to charging them. Running them very, very low or completely dead is bad and can lead to reduced life (till the battery must be replaced). Time between charges will always be longest when the battery is new and will degrade slightly over time but not much assuming equal usage levels. There is no substitute for having a bigger battery. Phones with 2160p resolution will have shorter life than those with 1080p unless their battery is significantly larger. Screen time and screen brightness are two of the biggest battery drains. If you have to be on your phone constantly then you may want to find a phone with a truly large battery (3500mAh or larger). |
