Hundreds of people have rallied in cities across Australia following allegations of abuse against boys in juvenile detention.

Demonstrators gathered in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to express shock at footage showing indigenous boys being tear-gassed.

The video also shows a boy wearing a "split hood" while cuffed to a chair.

U.N. Human Rights Commission slams Australia youth prison abuse
Quote:

Hundreds of people rallied in major cities across Australia on Saturday criticizing the government's response to video showing aboriginal children being teargassed and abused in prison.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has ordered an inquiry into the treatment of children in the detention center after the Australian Broadcasting Corporation this week aired footage showing guards teargassing teenage inmates and strapping a half-naked, hooded boy to a chair.

But he has rejected calls for a broader national inquiry.

The United Nation Human Rights High Commission called on Australia on Friday to compensate children abused in prison.

Restraint chairs are reserved for only the most out of control, immediately violent prisoners and permitted by the US federal courts....Moral of the story: Don't have a wild temper tantrum when you are locked up............. :oyvey
